The Anders Situation

So for a couple of months now, Anders has been in Skyhold, helping the Inquisition and keeping his head somewhat down under the alias of Detlef.

Anders is returning to Skyhold a few days after the events of Destroy the Red Lyrium Quarry and turning himself into the Grey Wardens, kicking off a chain of events that will have some ripples but are also avoidable if you want.

First will be a Grey Warden discussion. It’s been sketched out in vague terms, but generally he’ll be taken back as under their authority/part of their responsibility.

Second, the Grey Warden leadership will decide to take the matter to the Advisors, to keep them abreast of the situation. Leliana gets to intercept Detlef at this point in time because she’s figured out his identity on his own, but then there’s an Advisor meeting, also slightly discussed.

Where is there room for you? Plenty of places!

If you want something specific as final Detlef CR let me know in the header below; I’ll be putting up a closed log for plotted threads for the day or so after he gets back to Skyhold. This is also for if your character has CR and he might tell them his true name just before it gets everywhere.

If your character knew his identity and kept it secret (or even knew him as Detlef and simply seemed close to him,) there is an option for them to be interrogated by Leliana, let the player know in her header below.

This will be happening shortly here, up until the beginning of March, and will have some overlap with Civil War for the sake of a possibly distracted Cassandra.

At this time it’s unknown if there will be some sort of announcement of his identity, or it will slowly seep out. It’ll depend on how the logs go. If you particularly want your character to know, we can find a way for them to know, though. He’ll also stop calling himself Detlef, so it will be out there one way or another.

Not sure if this falls under question or comment or what because Vivienne's gonna be a frothing ball of rage about Anders. And not ok with him trying to hide with the Wardens because he sure wasn't fighting the Blight when he blew up a chantry and kicked off a war.

Mrr. Help me plot/plan/something? Because yeah she's going to be furious and not ok with just letting the Wardens babysit him. (I'm so sorry, she's difficult, and I know it.)

anyway kaisa will be a part of the wardens who agree with taking anders back and as far as she's concerned the matter will be closed to outside discussion once that's agreed on. warden issues stay within the wardens etc etc throws up a shadowy veil

Sorry I’m late, it’s my current aesthetic and I’m working it. Anyway...

If you could reply here and let me know if you would like your character to be interrogated by Leliana, that would be awesome! This offer stands for people who hid his identity (who pretty much would definitely be interrogated, I think) and for people with close cr with him who didn’t know his identity.

The main purpose of these interrogation/interviews is to ascertain why they felt it was necessary/acceptable to hide his presence/true identity from the Inquisition and whether he had any shady plans either for the Inquisition itself (for example, an attack on Skyhold as he attacked the Kirkwall Chantry, given the coexistence of mages and templars and sometimes tense relationship + the ties to the former Divine in the forms of Cassandra and Leliana + idk I am sure there are other possible reasons to be freaked out about him hating the Inquisition) OR abusing his role as an agent of the Inquisition to manipulate or try pull Inquisition members in shady directions, etc.

My personal preference would definitely be to thread interrogations, just so we know how they go etc as these things are hard to predict, but I am up for handwaving if we discuss it in some detail oocly :Db

Things that would be good to know: obviously the character, how long they have known Anders (or Detlef), and… anything of note you can think of. Their dynamic and experience with him, if you have thoughts on what sort of tact might be good for Leliana to take to get your character to respond, and such.

She’s meant to be good at interrogations I guess, being a spymaster and bard and reading/manipulating people blah blah but by no means does she need to CRACK YOUR CHARACTER LIKE AN EGG or anything. I would like her to get as much info as possible in these interrogations because that’s kind of her job, but again, god modding is lame and she is not a flaw free snowflake of information gathering. (And as a side note she will not be using physical force or other shady interrogation techniques of any kind, just in case that was a concern.)

OH and btw we don't HAVE to do this, it was just the most IC way for Leliana to respond and will be taken into account when they consider his fate etc.

I don't know that I'd say that Fate was ever really close with Detlef, but they exchanged books and he introduced him to Morrigan for shapeshifting. SO IDK IF THAT COUNTS but hello.

Jamie and Detlef have spent enough time together that Jamie's known to have been around him and been visibly friendly in his presence. So if that counts as close enough CR for interrogations, I'm all for it.
