OOC: antiva mini-plot quest thing & sign ups

Hello, Fade Rift!

I come to bring tidings of a mini-plot mission thing orchestrated by the lovely Josephine and considerably-less-lovely Leliana. This plot will be set in Antiva and will require around eight participants, although that number may be increased if there is a lot of interest. The mission itself is gently timey-wimey for the sake of sign up flexibility, but will be roughly set between 1st-5th May, including travel time.

But what, tho?
A summary:
Leliana has collected information concerning a Merchant Prince in Antiva who not only is trading in slaves, but is supplying said slaves to Venatori. She wants his operation shut down and any intel that can be gathered, and any slaves to be freed. This Merchant has been colluding with an Orlesian noble who, while not personally involved in the smuggling, hold some sway in Orlesian court and has remained resistant to the Inquisition despite effort to schmooze. Josephine wants to make use of his diplomatic potential and perhaps some blackmail and threats to connect him with the Venatori and slave trade are now necessary.

The group travels to Antiva to deal with these issue on behalf of the Secrets and Connections branches of the Inquisition, although undeniably this is being dealt with in a Secrets capacity.
A team of roughly 8 will be sent to Antiva, and then how they divide themselves could come down to tactics discussed by the players involved, although the Orlesian noble will try to climb down some ivy to escape and maybe need a back up team to intercept him, because he is an A+ duellist. Fun and shenanigans, investigating, some NPCing (by me!) and then a return to Skyhold with a range of 1 to 5 new additions, depending how things go.

But why, tho?
There are three goals.
For Secrets: take down a Merchant Prince who has some shady smuggling ties with slavers who has been rumoured to be supplying some of his “merchandise” to Venatori, acquire all information and books relating to Venatori dealings. Whether he is brought back to be interrogated/face trial/etc or killed can be left up to the players and how they interact with the NPC.

For Connections: the Orlesian Noble involved in this would be brought back to Skyhold as an “honoured guest” so Josephine can work her terrifying diplomatic magic and let him know he is at the Inquisition’s mercy and he will henceforth act as an asset to the Inquisition.

For The Good of Skyhold: the Merchant Prince has a legendary trio of chefs that work for him, the envy of many in Antiva and masters of cuisine from across Thedas, with an obvious specialty in Antivan. Leliana and Josephine want his chefs to be recruited so people stop demanding Antivan Chefs. (These chefs are actually Tal-Vashoth who left the Qun to follow their culinary dreams.)

But who, tho?
Leliana and Josie will be behind the scenes, and the mission itself is open to anyone!
Those counted as Leliana’s scouts/baby spies would be ensured 4 of the slots, if they express interest. People who lied to Leliana regarding Anders probably would be blocked from involvement because she is petty and forged of salt, HOWEVER if you can think of a passable reason why they should be considered anyway/would be super useful then just note down what it is and we’ll chuck you in the RNG selection anyway >8]b

Sign ups will close 24th April to allow a few days for plotting/discussion and then the log will go live on 30th April.

Sidenote: I am still in Denmark and juggling some family stuff so there may be occasional instances of RP delays, but when this log goes up it will be my priority, so hopefully it will not be impacted at all.

ETA: due to arranging a sort of last minute trip to the UK, I'm tweaking the dates a bit - sign ups will close the plotting comments posted 22nd April, and I will post the log on the 1st May so that I'm not awkwardly overseas and trying to NPC stuff in an airport. Hooray!
