Northern Powersssss
Hello dudes! Kostos has taken over the Northern Powers project. There won't be a big discussion post, because he’s sulking and thinks teambuilding is for babies and also is busy with the plague, but let me know if after the modplot ends you want your character to be individually grilled about their qualifications, work, priorities/opinions and so on. But it’s definitely not required! The OOC form in this post is semi-required though, as in I can’t make you do it but if you don’t I’ll cry.
NEXT
1. He’s going to organize things more around smaller teams of people working on the problems in specific countries. If Northern Powers is your character’s primary project they can up to two to focus on; if it’s their secondary, I think just one is more realistic. That definitely doesn’t mean people won’t be able to work on other things or go on missions that are focused on another country—it’s just what their day to day work/research/etc. would be and what they would be expected to be able to answer questions about intelligently. The groups and some info about the kind of work they would do are below.
2. Once I know who’s in what group and what wishes and goals people have (if any) I’m going come up with some assignments/mini-plots that get people out of Kirkwall—not huge plots, just relatively straightforward and minor stuff like visiting a sympathetic noble with gifts or sneaking around the Ander countryside with a spyglass, which you guys can use as RP fodder with your own CR on your own time and which will hopefully get us some information or reputation points that build toward bigger plots. For the assignments I come up with I’ll handle doing plot or info requests, since I’m pretty tight with the mods and stuff, but you’re always obviously totes welcome to do your own, too.
GROUPS
ANDERFELS: Openly hostile and a high priority. Issues include the fact that corrupt Wardens have taken over the whole country, a currently unaccounted-for bound demon army, and past sightings of darkspawn infected with red lyrium. Doesn’t appear to be an enemy that can be rationally negotiated with, so tactics would be primarily scouting/spying/subterfuge and sabotage, at least until there’s enough information to work with for a more direct approach.
TEVINTER: More subtly hostile but also a high priority. The seat of Venatori and the country Corypheus wants to return to imperialist glory, but not officially on board with his plan. Current goal would primarily be supporting resistance to the Venatori inside Tevinter and some sneaky maneuvering to try to identify and neutralize specific Venatori or their sympathizers via blackmail or assassination.
NEVARRA: Currently nominally an ally, but due to time travel shenanigans known to be a potential enemy. Issues include repairing the Inquisition’s relationship and reputation, trying to avert or mitigate chaos caused by their likely-imminent succession crisis, and cutting off Venatori/Tevinter influence. Tactics would be half diplomatic, half sneaky sneaking.
RIVAIN & ANTIVA: Grouped together because they aren’t currently in crisis or actively hostile and are thus lower priorities, but they still need some attention to remain stable and reliable allies. Issues include dealing with red lyrium smuggling and assisting with the countries’ internal instability due to things like rifts, the loss of the Crows, the loss of the Seers in Dairsmuid, etc. More potential for diplomacy and opportunities to use open force in their defense.
MISC
To whatever extent you want to handwave your character working on stuff around the project office in the background, Kostos is blunt and demanding and doesn’t smile very often and will put your character’s name on the Wall of Shame if they fuck up. (Not really. Only in spirit.) People are perfectly welcome to dislike him and long for the idyllic days of Lord Baerendorf. And if you want to do stuff Kostos wouldn’t think was a good idea I will do my best to support your goals OOC even if Kostos might be a pessimistic jerk about it IC.
If your character isn’t a project member or isn’t even an Inquisition member but you want them involved in this stuff anyway, hmu here or through the communication method of your choice.
And as I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t plan for Kostos to stay in this position for all that long, so if you’re interested in your character taking over the project’s leadership in the near future (3-5 months I’d say), now’s a good time for fictional resume-building. (☞゚ヮ゚)☞

I LOVE FORMS
FOCUS: You can pick two if this is your character’s primary project but stick to one if it’s their secondary. Choices are the Anderfels, Tevinter, Nevarra, and Rivain/Antiva. They don’t have to have prior experience or a personal interest—if they’re like “idk man whatever,” then Kostos will pick one for them. But OOC I want it to be the one you want!
ONGOING WORK: If you’ve been saying your character is researching or working on something specific (other than what’s already on the project page), let me know what it is so I can try to help make sure it leads somewhere.
LIKELY IMPRESSION: Assuming our characters have been working together some in the background under Lord Baerendorf, do you want Kostos to have any particular impression of them and their work ethic, with regard to this specific project? E.g., “never there because they’re too busy with their primary project/other job,” or “a workaholic who never says they don’t have time for something,” or “always brings everyone snacks.”
HOPE & DREAMS: What do you want, OOC? (Kostos doesn’t care what your character wants sorry.) Possible answers include:
- Character development goals, like “I want my character to have more opportunities to show he’s a capable diplomat” or “I want my character to be required to learn a new language” or whatever else.
- Specific plot goals, like “I want a plot to require infiltrating the Proving Grounds in Minrathous and fighting through a tournament in disguise in order to get access to a person/information.” If you have specific goals like this please be sure to specify whether you want your character to be the one coming up with the idea/plan and taking the initiative, or if they would need someone to make them.
- General plot goals, like “I want to do more outdoor scouting RP because camping is fun” or “I love fight scenes.”
But it’s also fine if you’re just here for the imaginary food.

FOCUS: Rivain/Antiva
ONGOING WORK: Straddling the Naval Presence project as well to get them more naval ties/assistance in the designated area.
LIKELY IMPRESSION: Her primary project is Naval Presence, so most of what she does is through that lens. That said, she'll still take on assignments that have nothing to do with that, if necessary. She won't deal with Qunari directly, pointing out that as a Vashoth mage that's a spectacularly bad idea. That said, she'll still translate Qunlat missives and the like.
HOPE & DREAMS: Working with the Tal-Vashoth/Vashoth in the area, simply getting a chance to prove what they can go when they gather in force.
Dealing with red lyrium smuggling is also definitely something she'd want to help with.

FOCUS: Anderfels, primarily with secondary being up in the air. Throw her wherever is needed.
ONGOING WORK: Very involved in shit involving the Anderfels whenever it comes up in talks or related documents that come floating in. She's got maps, written notes and drawings along with names and facts learned from that one mission where a woman exploded and a Prince was saved.
LIKELY IMPRESSION: Notably laid back but very determined but un-fucking up the Anderfels because the Wardens suck, she says, as a Warden. She'll help out in another other areas as needed concerning the other northern powers but her main focus is the Anderfels. Eats a lot, especially apples.
HOPE & DREAMS:

FOCUS: Anderfels
ONGOING WORK: Wardening, scouts in particular
LIKELY IMPRESSION: Nathaniel is very dedicated and invested in the idea of reclaiming the Anderfels.
HOPE & DREAMS: Taking back the Anderfels bit by bit, a battle for Weisshaupt,
letting Ciri punch things

FOCUS: Tevinter
ONGOING WORK: Anti-Venatori things... tracking specific ones down, killing them, etc, etc, whatever has to be done to take them out or weaken Tevinter in any way.
LIKELY IMPRESSION: He's known to be pretty intense and opinionated, especially when it comes to matters concerning Tevinter. He pulls no punches there. He's also got a really independent streak, he's not exactly eager to blindly follow orders considering his past. He may have some personal stake in being in on this project. Anti-blood magic, anti-magister, anti-magic (or at least tends to see magic as inherently bad until it's proven otherwise)... Let's face it, everyone already knows who he is or he's probably "that grumpy elf with the weird tattoos" to those who aren't aware.
HOPE & DREAMS: I am up for anything! Force him to confront things he hates, it's all good.

FOCUS: Tevinter and Nevarra - obviously she has a lot of connections to Antiva so she'll offer insight or whatever when necessary, but I want to roll her all over Tevinter and Nevarra.
ONGOING WORK: Currently working on what went down in the Necropolis, investigating what happened, who was behind it, and how to fix it (and crush whoever is responsible)
LIKELY IMPRESSION: THE BEST, OBVIOUSLY also her secondary project is Naval Presence
HOPE & DREAMS:
— shenanigans
— opportunities to show she's very capable and very alarming
— related to the above, but: if there's a plot where terrible things (torture, assassination) need to be done she'd put herself forward before making someone else do it and I think it'd be interesting
— i have some vague ideas regarding a Tevinter thing I'll need to run past you
— plots to possibly allow for expanding her smuggling network and influence
I forgot to hit enter
FOCUS: Anderfels
ONGOING WORK: General wardeny things, blight research, both of which tie to a lot of what generally goes on in the Anderfels
LIKELY IMPRESSION: Takes on a lot, but is organized to the point where he gets a lot done, too. Also jokes, possibly too much as this is Kostos talking.
HOPE & DREAMS:
-Imaginary fooooood
-The possibility of dealing with possessed mage wardens to possibly use the ritual that broke him free or a variation of it to free another mage.
-Something that could take him up near Laysh so he can try to find the village he came from/fail to find out his original name.
-I like the place because he's warm there and he can feel at home even if he's been gone so long he can't really claim to know much about it anymore.
YOU LOVE FORMS
FOCUS: Nevarra, but may shift down the road
ONGOING WORK: Primarily occupied with holding down the fort in the Forces division at present. Going to Nevarra with a team to investigate what happened at the Necropolis. Planning to fuck with the Chantry.
LIKELY IMPRESSION: Finds it weird that Kostos is kind of her boss now. Informal, contributes, but this doesn't seem like her first priority. Rarely in the project office if Kostos isn't.
HOPE & DREAMS: I like moral dilemmas, aftermath scenes, people forced to interact on road trips, ridiculous action movie sequences, spy hijinx of all sorts including but not limited to elaborate cover identities, heists, and near or even actual failures. My primary aim in getting Nell involved in this stuff is to build some CR (and have some RP) that isn't 100% focused on Mage/Templar politics, and also to shape Nell's opinion of the Inquisition and maybe get her more invested in it and its mission rather than just as a means to an end.
