Anything We Should Know: I've been roleplaying for about a decade now but this is my first experience in a game with a network! I also admittedly know very little about Dragon Age but I love the world and I'm excited to learn as I go along! I appreciate your patience as Newt and I get our feet beneath us, so to speak. I love this ridiculous nerd and I hope others do too.
Also, Newt has a permissions post for his magic here for those who would like to opt out/get a general idea of the sort of magic he might use on another character.

Who They Are: A magizoologist from the late 1920s who loves creatures of all sorts, especially the magical ones, and especially the "ugly/dangerous/weird" ones. He has no time for jerk wizards who want to start wars for the greater good.
Where They've Been: All over the world for his work, from Sudan to America, most recently, which turned into an adventure all his own. (He almost got executed but it's fine.)
What They Want: To spread the Good Word about how magical creatures are good and pure and deserve be protected and to live side by side by people. Also to try and stop a war over magical supremacy over nonmagical people, and to rescue and protect witches and wizards known as Obscurials.
Plot & CR Desires: I'm really looking forward to seeing what Newt makes of Thedas. He'll be frustrated at being stuck in another realm while a war is brewing back home, and will probably take it out on others, given that he's a prickly disaster still learning how to people. He's also going to be very much not a fan of how Thedas messes with his magic. He will definitely throw himself into studying the animals of Thedas as much as he can, and he will be especially curious about dragons. He's going to have A Lot Of Feelings regarding the various conflicts within Thedas, especially the Templar/Mage conflict. Mostly he's going to sigh. A lot.
I would love for Newt to make new friends, given that, once you get past his prickly exterior, he can be a deeply loyal and devoted friend. I'm game for all sorts of CR, positive or otherwise. I will admit that I'm rusty with negative CR but am happy to play with it regardless. Romantic/possible romantic CR with Newt will be a trial, given that he's currently in love with two people, but I'm up for that as well! Really, I'm excited and very much looking forward to seeing how Newt adapts to Thedas and the people in it. :D

I look forward to this! I'm reading Gareth's profile now! I honestly don't know how Newt will react to blood magic but he'll definitely want to know more about the mage/templar conflict and will at least listen. He'll probably have opinions of his own to share that Gareth might not want to hear.

I think, from the impression I get from Gareth, Newt will definitely be sympathetic towards him, even if he disagrees with some of his politics and methods. I'm excited for them to meet and thread! :)

I'm Bella and I have a collection of characters. One of them that I think needs to be thrown at Newt, though, is another rifter who just came in - she's a veterinarian. Her name is Alex, she's an oc and she'll be so excited about magical animals! but also... verging on a mental breakdown... because magical animals.
My others are Helena from Orphan Black (#yikes personified), and two native mage ocs. Marisol is a rebel mage and smuggler who is extremely melodramatic, and Herian is an extremely tense knight who is very into HONOUR but pretty universally makes a bad impression. I look forward to throwing any/all of them at Newt :')

Speaking of good beans, I would love to throw him at Rey sometime because I adore her! She's one of my favorite parts of the new Star Wars and I think they could have some interesting CR together! But all of your ladies sound really especially awesome so I will be happy to thread with any or all of them! Newt is probably going to become fond of the griffons himself so I feel like he will definitely warm to those who feel the same. And I am always here for confusion, especially of the familiarity kind.

HI FRIEND :D I am Lark and all I play is this blind elf mage nerd here. His name is Myr and he is SUPER INTO comparative magic and is 100% about asking rifter "mages" all about how magic works in their world, what the rules are, what can they do that Thedosians can't, etc. etc. etc., along with being a general friendly bean who loves everyone. He's also buddies with a one-winged griffon named Buttons who he is SO PROUD OF, so if Newt ever comes and visits the rookery while he's in, there's a chance to bond.

Hello! It's nice to meet you Lark! Your blind elf mage nerd sounds fantastic and I can't wait to throw Newt at him in game! I think they'll both get along, and my magizoologist nerd could use all of the new friends he can get. Especially the ones who are buddies with one-winged griffons.
