ALL NEW, FADED FOR HER "One of Solas's old friends, a spirit, has been summoned against its will and needs his help."
Just as it says on the tin! As in the canon quest, Solas is going to have a dream about a Spirit of Wisdom needing his help due to her being summoned and trapped by foolish mages trying to protect themselves. The major difference from the canon version of events is a) rather than it being a result of the unrest in Orlais it'll be a bandit attack and b) there will be no Inquisitor to keep him in check.
That's where you come in!
Solas is hoping to take a small group of people with him to help track down the spirit and try to save her from what's happened. He'll start by asking a friend for help (Thrandruil) and together they'll be making a party to try and go and help out Solas' friend and, hopefully, save her. That's not exactly how it's going to go, since this player plot is based off canon events, but the intention and the hope is still there! The outcome of this quest will have an impact on Solas and his views on people, on Thedas and the companions he's with!
Anyone is welcome to take part in helping out Solas, be it because they genuinely like him (what) or because they're curious about the nature of a spirit outside of the Fade/some fool mages summoning a spirit and what could happen as a result.
This is going to be a combat-based plot, since you're likely going to have to fight off a demon and, should you choose, the pillars keeping the spirit trapped where the mages wanted it.
