Inside the locked drawer is a sheaf of about half a dozen letters. Each is accompanied by an addressed envelope that appears to've been steamed open. The first appears to've been in the process of being redacted, with several words neatly sliced out of the first page, but the rest intact. It's fairly benign stuff, seemingly the letter of a young soldier to his family providing too much detail about what he's been up to. The second is similar.
The rest of the stack is more interesting. It's separated from the top with a clip and a note that reads "Refer to Raeus for further action." These letters, also written by Anders, are highly critical of their Tevinter allies, expressing dissatisfaction with their methods, distrust of their aims, and urging those at home to be careful and skeptical of Tevinter and to quietly spread the word to others to do the same. The one letter addressed to Tevinter is similar, except the negativity is focused on the Venatori rather than Tevinter in general.
Judging from the style of the letters and some random details scattered throughout, they can gather that the most interesting individuals are:
Stellan Hasso, who writes to his wife Jurgenilla in Tallo. He urges her to share it with his father Egon and brother Rolf, merchants also in Tallo. Judging from the letter he is well-educated and the family fairly well-off.
A young officer named Alf Von Alphen writes to his parents, Sir Henrik and Milla Von Alphen in Kassel. He mentions a sister who is a Chantry mother there, and another who is advantageously engaged to minor nobility.
The letter to Tevinter is from a soldier named Apollon Artemidoros who writes to his father, Antoninus. He refers to his father's distinguished service and their family's long and proud history in the military, which he argues are being sullied by the Venatori's conduct of this war.
