Mod Hiatus

Every year, the mod team takes a Holiday Hiatus, a wonderful and astoundingly short month-ish period in which we do absolutely zero modwork. No apps, no posts, no plot requests, no answering questions, no AC, nothing. It's a necessary break to allow for recharging our batteries to continue running for another year (and usually for holiday travel, but, this year for stressing about how holidays even work if there is none).

The hiatus typically runs from Thanksgiving through early January. So in order to make sure we can get everything squared away before we retreat into our caves for a long winter's nap, the deadline for all new requests/questions/apps/etc. is 11:59pm Eastern on ~~November 20~~ November 27. **Because the beginning of this month was a mess and we forgot to put this post up on time, we're going to push the hiatus back a week to make sure anyone who wasn't aware of it has a fair shot to get things submitted before we vanish. Any apps or requests received before that deadline will be handled before we consider ourselves completely off duty.

Once the clock ticks over onto November 28, apps will be closed, and we'll ask that you please refrain from submitting new plot requests/info requests/questions until we resume work on January 14. Even if we don't have to answer things right away, seeing them pile up while we're trying to take a break can be stressful, and the urge to just discuss them or handle a couple while we have a minute can be overwhelming, and then before you know it we're not really taking a break. We'll post reminders when the deadline looms closer, but this is your formal heads up to please keep this in mind as November winds down and make sure you plan in advance for any plots you want to run in December or early/mid January.

As always, AC will be counted as normal at the end of November, but there will be no December AC.

Leadership Reminders

We're coming to the end of the September/October/November quarter, so everyone playing a Division Head or Project Leader please make sure that you have submitted a plot request for at least one war table operation during this time frame. If you didn't run one during the June/July/August period, you must do two this quarter. As we mentioned in previous months, these deadlines are also affected by our holiday hiatus, meaning you must submit war table plot requests no later than November 27.

For other IC leadership positions, remember that you're required to do something as well. Running a war table operation is an option for you, too (and the same deadline to submit it for our approval applies). So is setting up an event focused on your character's work (e.g., the Stablemaster, if we had one, could do an open post for an organization-wide riding competition) or doing a post or log that centers on their job (e.g., the Head Archivist doing a rookery post or log that's focused on archiving). Basically, you just need to link in your AC comment proof that you're actually using the position to facilitate RP in some way.

Plot Reminders

A few other general plot-related reminders:

If you are running a war table operation or player plot, your PC is not required to be involved; you're welcome to just set up and/or run the plot without actually RPing in it if you'd prefer.
If your character participates in a war table op or mod plot and has ideas about how to follow it up, please feel free to discuss those with the relevant leader and potentially submit player plots following up—sometimes next steps will already be in the works, but often there's plenty of room for PCs to take initiative on tugging on plot threads.
OOCly, we don't require that players secure IC leadership permission for plots before submitting plot requests to us. In fact, it's entirely possible for plots to move forward without IC permission at all; it's something we'll address in the plot approval process.
Please remember to post reports! Even if threading a plot doesn't get completed, it's important to have a report recording what was done so it can be referred to and built on in the future. If no report is filed, we have to assume nothing happened.

IC & PLOT UPDATES

Mod Plot

October 15 was Fade Rift's fifth anniversary. (It's difficult for us to believe, too.) In keeping with the general spirit of celebrating that achievement, this month's mod plot may provide both glimpses of the future and a chance to reflect on the past. Because we want to leave plenty of time for war table operations and player plots currently planned for November, the event will be posted this month but will ICly be taking place in early January, so everyone will be forward-tagging the event without having to worry about how it would potentially affect their other plot endeavors in the meantime. We'll post more detailed info so you can begin plotting soon.

IC Leader Updates

Mhavos Dalat is now Head Archivist.

Additionally, Salvio Pizzicagnolo, the current Seneschal, is being dropped by his player for the time being, so that role is open for applications. However, since he's a pretty well-established fixture and people enjoy making jokes about his suffering and so on, he'll continue to fill the role in an NPC/handwaved capacity until there's a successor.

We have a number of other leadership roles currently available. If you're interested, you can apply for those roles here. The next due date is November 27, after which you'll have to wait until January for any new apps.
