Civil War Event & Information Release Timeline
Hey everyone - I made a quick plurk about this earlier and it was suggested that I share it in an OOC comm post so everyone could see it. There's a lot going on this month with various plots, so I wanted to provide a quick (if somewhat vague) timeline to help people sort out what information your character may or may not know at this point.
TIMELINE:
Anders turned himself into the wardens in late Guardian, after returning from the Emprise du Lion.
Leliana discovered Anders' identity the next day, before the Wardens had a chance to come to the Inquisition with the news.
Leliana then informed the Advisors of the Anders situation the same day.
She then began interrogations of those who knew Anders (interrogations are continuing through the first half or so of Drakonis).
A few days later (still late Guardian/very early Drakonis), the public notice of the Anders situation went up.
Cassandra began interrogating the rifters involved in closing the Skyhold rift (and only those involved in that event) to get an idea of what had happened. This takes place after the advisors' conversation about Anders. This initial round of questioning was light and little more than a formality, until she got to her interrogation and arrest of Galadriel.
Cassandra then immediately went to the Advisors to inform them of Galadriel's arrest, culminating in her and Leliana's disagreement, kicking off the Civil War plot.
Following the disagreement, Cassandra expanded her interrogations to include most or all rifters/shardbearers, with a specific focus on questioning mages. These later interrogations are much more tense and focused - at this point she is concerned about the possibility of rifters/shardbearers (especially mages) deliberately opening rifts. (Note that Leliana interrogations are still going on at this point!)
Please note that most of the Civil War stuff, including Cassandra and Leliana's disagreement and everything that happened between Cassandra and Galadriel, is currently not public knowledge! There is an update on the rumors page detailing what your character may know at this point; if it's not on the rumors post or your character didn't hear it from one of the parties involved, they don't know it yet!
Note also that the rumors allow a lot of room for incorrect assumptions and misinterpretation of events. Why Galadriel was questioned or arrested, why Cassandra is hauling people in to be interrogated, all of that is up for debate - all anyone knows for sure is that a rifter elven mage who has been with the Inquisition for months and who is perpetually helpful, inoffensive, and beloved by the Dalish, was abruptly arrested with no explanation. There is no reason to assume that Cassandra won't come for your character next, or that Galadriel did anything wrong!

Galadriel was imprisoned at the beginning of March, but was granted leave (under Templar supervision, and probably with various other preventative measures on Cassandra's part) on the Temple of Dirthamen mission on the 18th. That log is ongoing but Galadriel will have come back injured to some (probably fairly serious) extent. Note that the timing of this means that Galadriel was still imprisoned while the ball was going on.
During this time, sometime before the Dirthamen mission, the advisors received a letter from the Dalish, which Cassandra intercepted and responded to without informing the other advisors.
After Galadriel's return, she was put under house arrest in one of the guest rooms above the garden rather than returned to the cells. While she was allowed visitors in the cells, they ended up becoming disruptive and as of her return from the temple/house arrest, she will no longer be allowed any visitors.
Currently there is a log up with Gavin attempting to break Galadriel out! He will get caught and arrested in turn because Gavin can't have nice things. This takes place after the temple but before the arrival of Solas and the new rifters at Skyhold. (so, sometime between the 18th and the 25th). Thranduil and Legolas arrive through the rift this month and will be extremely displeased to find Galadriel imprisoned.
For Cassandra's part, so far she has been approached by a few people and asked what happened, but has not been directly challenged. She has been fairly polite and slightly more forthcoming to the one human noble who approached her (Maxwell), and not quite rude but also not sharing any information at all with the Dalish elves who have asked her (Twisted Fate in her inbox, Cyril's letter).
Her impression so far is that people (other than Leliana) are not particularly upset with her arresting Galadriel and locking her up without any charges other than "she said she would do a thing." So she doesn't have any IC reason, at this point, to just...kind of keep Galadriel under lock and key indefinitely. Galadriel is still a threat and one Cassandra isn't quite sure what to do about, long-term.
Gavin's rescue attempt (as well as Leliana confronting her about intercepting the letter) will help make her realize this is a Bigger Deal and push her towards letting Galadriel go free, but I am open to anything else that will help make her realize that this isn't cool. I'm willing to answer any questions or do any plotting that will help that happen!
There's been a lot of discussion on plurk this morning, so if people want to comment here and talk about what their plans are, or if there are any questions, that's cool! In addition to the Gavin log, I know Mel was also planning to have Cyril talk to the elves and independently to Cassandra and Leliana, following the letter from the Dalish.
