Okay, so I’ve been kinda muttering on discord and plurk about “the crestwood plot” for like, two months, and here it finally is! “Sins of the Father” is it, fancy name and everything. It’s called that because Raylan’s father is in it, and he’s sinning. With crime.

This is the signup post! Signups will close September 27 at 11:59pm Eastern. I have a fancy form down below for y’all to use. Nine characters will be chosen by a dice roll (you can sign up multiple characters, but only one per player will be picked). The plotting post will go up that night or the next day, and that will have a more in-depth description of the plot and what goes down along with all the usual “who gets hurt, how good did we do, etc” type stuff. The post for the plot itself will go up on October 1, with the quest ICly taking place somewhere WAVES HANDS WILDLY in the middle of October, and taking up about a week.

The quest is sort of a mystery genre (I say sort of because like, there’s no actual way to do it without telling you upfront what’s happening and the conclusion, but the characters will feel like they’re in a mystery!) Thedas noir! Solve the crime and catch the bad guys!

This quest has a scoring system which may affect how Crestwood is handled and how smoothly that goes in the future! Points will be won for every unique piece of evidence or information the team finds to solve the crime with, plus a few points for whether some key events happen (for example, convincing a local to part with their maps without force will win points). Please also note that the problems this quest creates in Crestwood won’t be dealt with until at least December, so anyone with a burning need to help the town is going to have to be able to keep a lid on it until then.

The quest goes in five phases so that I can keep track of my shit. Keep in mind that the quest is scored, so activity is very important!! The first two phases and the last phase DESPERATELY need your participation. The first two phases are the interrogation and evidence-gathering part of the mystery. Phases 3 and 4 are the action-y fighting parts. The last phase will determine the final outcome of the quest.

Please note that Raylan is heavily involved in this plot. The whole thing is kicked off by someone from his hometown (that would be Crestwood) sending him a letter saying there’s some shit going down, he’s the leader of the team, and his father is going to die in phase 4. His role will be fairly central.

Content warnings for this plot will include: references to past child abuse, slavery, parental death, horrendous moral choices, all the shady shit that Crestwood entails. A character or three may also get kidnapped, but this will NOT involve any damage or aggression other than the force required to subdue your character if they fight.
