NOTICE: Biting Mistletoe

Hello! Sort of separate from the current winter event, but also not separate at all, an unknown number of semi-sentient biting mistletoe sprigs have invaded the Gallows. (All credit goes to Cee for inventing the stuff in another game ages ago.) The plants were found at a rift site and stored in a crate for later examination, but have since busted out and are now lurking around the Gallows looking for victims. A few notes:

  • If you don’t think it’s funny or don’t feel comfortable having your character pestered to kiss someone else by an animate biting plant, that’s cool—it isn’t so widespread that it can’t be avoided entirely just by coincidence. If you do think it’s funny and do feel comfortable, then some will conveniently be wherever your character goes at the time that they go there.

  • Remember that Thedas doesn’t have a mistletoe kissing tradition, so for all natives currently know it’s just a vicious plant attacking people for no reason. We’re relying on rifters to recognize it and figure out what it wants.

  • Once it locks onto a target it will affix to them and bite, smack, and otherwise annoy them until they kiss somebody. It may also try to push faces together if it catches multiple people at once.

  • It has tiny mouths and teeth. It might also scream sometimes. It's entirely made up so you can do what you want.

  • You can kill it with fire, but to avoid singeing the person it’s attached to, kissing them first so it detaches might be smart.

  • Bites may cause mild rashes that can be treated with elfroot.

If you have questions one of us will be happy to answer them, probably, eventually.

    Happy Holidays!

Important question: Will the mistletoe only be satisfied by lip-to-lip kisses, or will Courtly Kisses on the hand etc. count for the purposes of this infestation?

    Excellent.
