Player Plot: Mercy for the Elves
Everybody likes interracial elven politics, right?
During the soiree, Beleth will speak to some of the city elf servants brought in by the Orlesian nobles. They'll tell her a little about the conditions in the Val Royeux alienage, and that there are elves there who want to leave and join the Dalish. But they don't have the means, and they don't know if the Dalish will even accept them if they manage to get to a clan. Beleth is going to take it upon herself to aid these elves who want to rejoin their rightful place among the People--but she's going to need help.
Around the end of Drakonis (March), Beleth will put up two requests for help for the two different parts that will be necessary. I'll be putting up a network post for this, and your character can have a chance to discuss it with her. However, if you just want to handwave it, that's fine, too.
The First Part: A Dalish Perspective
Time: First week of Cloudreach (April)
Open to: Dalish
Number of People: 3-4
Location: Ylenn Basin (between Montsimmard and Verchiel)
Beleth is going to specifically request Dalish to come with her to meet a clan that she's been in contact with. The Keeper isn't fully convinced that allowing a group of flat ears into their clan is a good move, but she believes that meeting him with a group of Dalish to discuss it will persuade him. They'll travel to meet the Keeper, discuss it with him, possibly offer to do favors for the clan (odd jobs that the clan don't have the manpower or ability to do). Will they succeed??? Will they fail??? Who knows!!!
(Note: It is possible that the Keeper will not be moved. There's a contingency plan, so don't worry, Part 2 will still happen even if Part 1 fails)
The Second Part: Elf Smuggling For Fun And Profit
Time: Second week of Cloudreach (still April)
Open to: Non-elves
Number of People: 4-5
Location: Starts at Val Royeaux
So Beleth has about a dozen city elves that need to be moved from the alienage to a clan. This presents two challenges: Getting that many elves out of the alienage without causing a fuss, and then safely getting them to wherever they need to go (the destination in question will be decided by the success or failure of Part 1). Her current plan is to say that the elves have been recruited to the Inquisition, but who knows if the guards will buy it? One of the main reasons Beleth will be asking people who aren't elves to join in this part is because she believes the guard would be more likely to trust humans or dwarves (and not want to argue with qunari). After that, the group will have to escort the city elves to their destination safely. Which should be easy...but the roads haven't been very safe lately, have they?
(There will be a contingency plan in place to make sure they get out of the alienage but there MIGHT BE CONSEQUENCES....... ooooooo ....)
Note: If your character's race/culture doesn't match the part that you want them to participate in (not a Dalish for part 1, for example), that doesn't mean you can't sign up for that part. These restrictions have been placed by Beleth, and if your character is close to her, or is a friend of a friend, it's pretty possible for her to go ahead and make an exception. Elves trying to get into Part 2 will have a lot easier time than non-Dalish trying to get into Part 1. She might be biased.
Sign ups will last until 3/21, and if more people volunteer than there are spots available, then I'll RNG to see who gets in.
3/21 EDIT: Thank you to everyone who signed up! Since five people signed up for the first part and there were four slots I just...went ahead and made it five so everyone could join in. So the slots for the mission will currently be:
