plot sign up; a nevarra reprise

Marisol has decided to get her Inquisition life choices off to a rolicking start by trying to get to work on fixing That Nevarra Disaster, or at least finding out if it can be fixed, which means there is going to be a small diplomatic foray to Nevarra City, aka that one place that is super done with the Inquisition right now.

The bare bones details for the mission are that it will involve trying to find the tour guide, talking to members of the Nevarran court, finding out information around how this came about and who was behind it, and trying to be charming and sincere. There will be diplomatic elements, but might also be some opportunities for sneaking and investigating and bribery.

Current involved parties are Marisol & Carver, and while the party will need to be ~~~selectively chosen~~~ (for discretion and to make sure they aren’t asked to immediately leave), we’re doing open sign ups! We’re thinking approximate five or six people will go on the mission, but that may be adjusted a little bit depending on how we go with our plotting and scheming.

If we have more people than positions available we’ll crack out the ol’ RNG. In the name of full disclosure, preference will be given to characters with diplomatic skillz, stealth & investigation skillz, or who are involved with the Northern Powers project - if that doesn’t apply to your character, please don’t hesitate to sign them up anyway! We might be able to find a use for their particular skillset and mix it up a bit.

We’re still working out when this will be, probably not until late Feb to allow a little breathing room following the current illness plot, so there’s some flexibility on that end.

Note: Marisol may be able to painstakingly secure permission for a very small group of Inquisition agents (2-3) to enter the Necropolis to investigate further - obviously not everyone will get to go on this part of the investigation. There will still be other stuff to do, though!

Name: Benevenuta Thevenet
Skills: Mortalitasi Necromancer, experienced political aide, diplomatic background. Nevarran courtier.
Relevant projects or missions: Briefly involved in an Inquisition investigation into the succession in Nevarra, though at the time as a local expert rather than an agent.
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? No. And she's pissed about it having happened.
Anything else? Benevenuta is from a prominent Nevarran noble family, and at the time of the Incident was an active member of the Nevarran court. She can lend some credibility with moderates and those influenced by her family in the court and the Mortalitasi, though it's also likely she's viewed by hardline anti-Inquisition types as too biased to give a trustworthy accounting due to her back and forth between Nevarra and the Inquisition, and rumored romantic liaisons with inappropriate Inquisition agents.

Name: Kostos Averesch
Skills: Nevarran native, previously trained under the Mortalitasi, and a spirit medium—his particular hobby is using wisps to spy on inaccessible people and places, so he could do that, or theoretically he could also communicate with/read the minds of the spirits in the Necropolis’ mummies to see if they saw anything.
Relevant projects or missions: Northern Powers, general Inquisition and Rebel Mage resume for spy/scout work
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? Nope, see below.
Anything else? The problem is obviously that he’s not especially welcome in Nevarra, so he would need to be lying super low and sneaking around in the background, or using a fake name, or both. It also makes a lot of sense for him to just not be allowed to go!! So that won’t hurt my feelings at all.

Name: Korrin Ataash
Skills: Mercenary mage, Knight-Enchanter, Battlemage, Lightning mage
Relevant projects or missions: Northern Powers
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? Nope! She wasn't even in Nevarra at the time.
Anything else? She's not especially diplomatic or stealthy, but if things go south, she's someone you'll want in battle. If that's not enough to keep her around, I totally understand.

Name: Vandelin Elris
Skills: Entropy mage, diplomatic attache, amateur sneak.
Relevant projects or missions: Diplomacy, Northern Powers
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? Yes, and he was half responsible for the magical grease fire that blew a whole lot of those fancy dead Nevarrans to shit.
Anything else? Given his personal involvement in the necropolis battle, Van might not be the best person to represent Diplomacy here--but the less sorry he actually feels about something, the more convincing his apology for it can be, so he'll give a great performance if permitted.

Name: Audra Hawthorne
Skills: Necromancer and Entropy mage, tenacious researcher and a disarming ball of sunshine that can also murder you.
Relevant projects or missions: None aside from the visit to Nevarra
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? Yes, she did what she could to minimize her own destruction of the bodies using a lot of ice magic to incapacitate rather than fire to destroy, but her priority was making sure no one else ended up like the dead bodies.
Anything else? She's traveled to Nevarra a few times before joining the Inquisition and is loosely acquainted with some of the former Circle Enchanters, because she's written papers on Necromancy.

Name: Bethany Hawke
Skills: Force mage, Battlemage, Most Diplomatic Warden, Carver's twin so she can sit on him as necessary.
Relevant projects or missions: She was on the tour when the tour guide locked the door behind them, so she has a good idea who they are looking for.
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? Yes, she was fighting with Carver and Aleron to get to safety. She was watching the tour guide when he closed the door behind them.
Anything else? She has already spoken with Marisol about willing to do whatever she can to help the Wardens and the Inquisition gain back some favor from the Nevarran people.

Name: Julius
Skills: Magic (and I promise I am definitely making his spell list soon), being charming and sincere
Relevant projects or missions: Was on the 3-hour tour of the Necropolis
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? Technically yes, though due to ooc failure I didn't thread anything; presumably he did nothing particularly memorable or embarrassing, beyond the large-scale failure of the trip.
Anything else? He's great at not accidentally insulting people?

Name: Morrigan
Skills: shapeshifter mage/entropy, never touched a Circle, tends too know too much about alarming things
Relevant projects or missions: All that time in the Orlesian court, Fifth Blight party times. Elven artifacts project-wise
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? No
Anything else? Not the most diplomatic but since she can turn into a bird she's extremely stealthy. On the other hand the thumbing of her nose at Orlesian society/the Game might be an advantage.

Name: Nell Voss
Skills: Nevarran. Knight-enchanter/force mage, both of which are the opposite of subtle, but she can also whack people with her staff sans magic (much quieter) and has a decent head for investigating, I guess? Can (pretend to?) be charming and sincere-ish, though isn't as up on the finer details of noble politics/interactions. Wouldn't balk at having to pretend to be someone/something else if necessary to be effective.
Relevant projects or missions: Member of the Northern Powers project, assisting the head of the Forces division, went to Nevarra with the Inquisition.
Where they involved in the Necropolis battle? No, she didn't go to the Necropolis. Did implode the Circle a little bit, but that's not public knowledge in the Inquisition, let alone in Nevarra.
Anything else? nah
