Grand Tourney Conclusion

Part II of the Grand Tourney plot has been posted here!

As you may have noticed, the event ends with bad news: the Anderfels have launched an invasion of Orlais. More information is available on the IC news updates post. The bulk of the response to this event will be handled out of Skyhold, where the Inquisition's advisors and the majority of its forces remain focused on the security of Southern Thedas, but supporting their efforts through the specific projects based in Kirkwall should take on some renewed urgency. It also means we now have a militarized border and an active war front for characters to incorporate into player plots. The Beyond Kirkwall page has been updated with a map (which is easier to read if you look at the full size version), as well as changes to some nations' descriptions as needed.

ETA: There's also a submission form for NPCs you'd like to have potentially randomly selected as casualties of war!

We still have a few things to wrap up with regard to the tourney. Mainly, once we tally everything from your point sheets, event winners, and diplomacy/stealth assignments, we'll have more information about how everyone's diplomatic efforts came together and what that means—we just have a little bit more math to do first.

IC Leadership Changes

Effectively immediately, the following new leaders have seized power:

Between previously existing vacancies and new vacancies created by characters moving into new roles, we now have openings for:

Chantry Relations Project Leader & Assistant Leader

Corypheus' History Assistant Leader

Naval Presence Assistant Leader

Other Powers Project Leader & Assistant Leader

Rifts & the Veil Project Leader & Assistant Leader

There was a significant amount of interest in Base Operations, in particular, and only two slots to fill. Over the next month we're going to look at creating some additional specific, official Gallows-based roles related to the war effort that can give some of those characters more official authority over some different realms—so if you weren't chosen for one of these slots, keep an eye out during our next update!

Applications for those roles and any others that open up in the next two months will be accepted until July 31, with new appointments made in early August! Remember that the Inquisition's Kirkwall base is populated and run almost solely by your characters, with NPCs only around to do grunt work like guarding doors and cleaning. There is no one around with more experience than PCs. Characters without impressive resumes might still be handed leadership roles and told to do their bests. They do need to make some sense—people won't generally be given roles immediately upon walking through the door (or through a rift), a Dalish elf wouldn't be put in charge of Chantry Relations, and in general the people making these appointments aren't complete idiots—but don't hesitate to apply for something your character has the potential to be good at just because you don't feel they've accumulated enough XP yet.

Projects are always open to new members, and player plots related to project goals can be submitted by anyone at any time. And as a reminder, for your reference and to help you know what your characters are doing day to day, we have a breakdown of the divisions and projects and the work characters in each would be expected to perform.

Regarding the currency rewards - Iorveth got one coin purse that could buy a fine horse and the grand melee one says horse also (is it a fine horse? idk idk). my question is, would that amount be enough for him to purchase or at least get a decent lease on a warehouse in the kirkwall alienage?

not to live in, more to Do Things In 8T Things that might involve the training of certain peoples. Or might be illegal idk. That would be the second question, but I probably need to take that to the plot post. wanted to check first if acquiring the space with these winnings would be possible. thanks!!

There aren't necessarily warehouses in the alienage, since it's a residential area, but he might be able to find something smaller than a warehouse but still a little larger and more open than the standard tiny apartment for his purposes. Buying a building would probably be more than the winnings themselves could manage, but if he gets help elsewhere or saves for a while he might be able to pull it off. Alternatively, if he's not also paying for a lease on housing elsewhere, it might be enough to combine the winnings with his excess Inquisition income to rent something for a while before it runs out. And yes, if you want him to start trying to train NPCs or anything similar, please do submit a plot request!
