minrathous player plot: the making of a villain

The Venatori governor who took over Max's pirate island keeps a home in Minrathous, where his estranged wife resides. Since the Inquisition is conveniently in the neighborhood, Max would like to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about him and his Venatori ties. She's looking to recruit a few people to break into said home in hopes of recovering documents that will help her and the other Nascere pirates start unraveling his operation and/or destroy him personally.

- Prior CR not remotely required, Max doesn't have room to be picky
- Payment available, flexible morals preferred but not required

Relevant skills: Extensive background as a burglar, extensive background stealing intel, magic resistance
What would motivate your character to help? A chance at Venatori intel + the chance to help the Inquisition
Would your character feel obligated to inform their Division Head of what they find? Yes, sorry Max :'( Kitty's in the research division.
Anything else: We might need to figure out a way for Max to find out that Kitty has these skills, since she keeps a bit mum about them!
no subject
As for Kitty's skills, at the moment Max knows she's observant and trusts her more than she trusts anyone else who's going, which might be enough for her to ask for Kitty's help all on its own tbh! Maybe we could say Max asked for Kitty's help as a lookout, and Kitty either shared what else she's capable of or not at that point?
(Also, hello, I'm probably not going to manage to get this log up tonight, but you will definitely see it before I sleep tomorrow. ♥)

And yes! If Max mentions her intentions, Kitty respects her enough at this point to volunteer her skills (aside from the magic resistance) fairly freely.
looking forward to this, it's gonna be good

Relevant skills: an assassin familiar with info trading and acquiring secret intel. very sneaky. surprisingly good at break-ins. great at keeping secrets; if you don't have any friends, you don't have anyone to blab to!
What would motivate your character to help? Venatori intel would be great thanks. also pirates et al fighting for their island isn't quite the same as revolutionaries making the world a Better Place but it's close. and anyways friendship with Max and co. could be useful in the future of those revolutionaries, helping would be worth it for the new connection opportunity alone.
Would your character feel obligated to inform their Division Head of what they find? absolutely not....... but he might tell his boyfriend Caspar.
Anything else: HMMM. well I tagged your network post and I think a logical eventual end to that would be Nikos flagging Max as an interesting person to dialogue with. so maybe we can work out/handwave a letter or something that offers a proposed connection between Max and Nikos' cool spy/revolutionary network??

Also, clearly this log is not going up tonight, but I am determined to get the ball rolling before I sleep tomorrow, so: very soon.

promise it will be mutually beneficial xoxo
double promise he will shape up and be nicer in the next tag or 2 if only because offscreen his much more charming boyfriend kicks him in the shins or something

Relevant skills: Skilled at shapeshifting, sneaking, and the ins and outs of murdering people in Tevinter.
What would motivate your character to help? Idk, Loki likes mayhem but also has probably met and dislikes this person. Maybe he spilled his drink at a party. Who knows.
Would your character feel obligated to inform their Division Head of what they find? Ahahaha--No.
Anything else: Loki is very useful in situations like this but he is a shitheel. Tolerating him is definitely a challenge.

Max knows that the Venatori in question, Woodes Rogers, has a wife named Severina who lives somewhere in Minrathous, but she doesn't necessarily know where. I'm thinking, if Max has noticed Loki is a Tevene mage of good social standing, she might try to use him to find out where the house is, pretending she's an old friend of Severina's or something. And if Loki is familiar with Tevinter politics, it wouldn't be hard to put together that Severina is married to the current governor of Nascere, Max is probably not her friend, and something else is going on here. If something like that works for you, I'd be happy to play it out or handwave it!
Woodes Rogers himself would be a Laetan mage from a prominent shipping family who made a name for himself both as a naval officer and the author of a popular book, Voyage Round the Known World, which is an autobiographical account of his travels, including the death of his brother at the hand of some pirates. It's by no means high literature. He's very much the boy scout type and probably not much fun at parties, but his wife Severina might have been in her day, and she would be closer to Loki's social status anyway.

Relevant skills: Scout, Tevene, proficient in bows/hand to hand/sneaking around/assassinations. He's been working as an assassin for about ten years, so he's good at it. He knows a little bit about the Venatori as well and has no connections to worry about losing.
What would motivate your character to help? His family are also Venatori and he hates them.
Would your character feel obligated to inform their Division Head of what they find? Not necessarily.
Anything else: He also lowkey has magic but he won't be admitting that or using it unless necessary.
