deep roads rescue plotting!

WHO: Hanzo, D'Artagnan, other Deep Roads escapees and rescuers (Alistair, accompanied by Nate, Isaac, Jester, Marcoulf, Newt, and Rey)
WHAT: Deep Roads Tevinter-style escaping! I said I was happy to put up a log for this later as well.

People have made the intelligent choice of trying to escape through the Deep Roads. Here's what we have so far! I'm stealing a bunch from other plotting posts, because I am not unique and I am very tired.

OVERVIEW (notes from the OOC post):
  • Escapees through the Ambassadoria into the Deep Roads will find exits up to the surface blocked by heavy dwarven fortifactions.
  • We'll be tacking pockets of Darkspawn the entire time.
  • Halfway to Kirkwall they'll run into the Inquisition rescuers.
  • The combined team will then travel south, remaining underground to avoid having to skirt between the Blasted Hills and the Minanter, emerging around Arlesans.
  • Then we go from the river (via boat) before sailing from Val Chevin to Kirkwall.

The things I think we might cover in the log are as follows:
  • Travelling through and finding blockages to their routes to the surface.
  • Fighting! Some! Darkspawn!
  • Travelling south / maybe a camping montage.
  • Meeting the rescuers!
  • River travel / return home.

We obvious can do more/less of these and play it by ear, since it's our log.

I'm also stealing the Catacombs plotting resource check to see what we have going on, especially for those actually escaping from Tevinter and trying to make their way to where they can escape / get to their rescuers.

If we have any other ideas / thoughts / questions then please go ahead and ask and I'll edit the entry with relevant links/etc!

    Name: Isaac
    Team: Rescuer

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • Mage healer, that's his schtick
  • Very good at standing a significant distance behind the people fighting
  • Emergency spells like "naptime", "coma", and "set everything on fire"
  • Emergency cardio

    Useful Inventory:
  • Staff & spooky knife.
  • Medic’s kit w/bandages and potions and whatever.
  • Will also bring rope, lyrium, and some face coverings for the non-wardens.

    Current Status:
  • Uninjured & unenthused.

    Other Notes:
  • In the absence of any major injuries that’d complicate balance, he’ll vote that they detour to the terrifying bridge chasm, instead of doing round 2 of blind cave brontos. He'll defer to whatever the Warden decision is, tho.

I feel like there's a strong chance d'Artagnan will like Isaac; he's useful, sensible, and also he has some bias towards mages. He'll agree with the bridge chasm route too! After the Darkspawn attacks he'll be cool with avoiding brontos where they can.

    Name: Newt Scamander
    Team: Rescuer

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • Rifter wizard who has experience with navigating the Deep Roads
  • Can use his magic to provide light and to help fight darkspawn and whatever else they encounter
  • Experience with adapting to different environments/exploring from traveling for his work back home
  • Can help with basic first aid
  • IDK if his experiences with magical creatures will come in useful here but it's there

Useful Inventory: One wand, his very useful/handy tier 3 level armor, some care packages he's helped assemble with other rifters (i.e. food, blankets, extra elf root, etc.)

Current Status: Uninjured and actually kind of enjoys the Deep Roads themselves more than he probably should admit. He will probably share some of his food with any nugs they encounter.

Other Notes: Super excited for this! :D

    Yes, of course!

And that definitely needs to happen! I'll find a way to make it work. XD

Also enjoy him squinting at you Isaac and wondering why you look like his old professor~

    Name: Jester
    Team: Rescuer!!!!

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • D&D cleric, coming at you with a general healing spell (HEALING WORD). the spell is low level and she's low level too... and also not thrilled about always having to heal people. she can also her cleric abilities to stabilize someone if they're almost dead (SPARE THE DYING).
  • has a spell called PASS WITHOUT A TRACE that will let a party of people be super stealthy for increments of a half hour, as long as they stay close to her.
  • has cool distracting spells like DUPLICITY (one perfect double of her) and MIRROR IMAGE (three partially see-through lookalikes), to be used as distractions, mostly, as they can't manipulate objects in physical space
  • strong af and also she has the physical form of a qunari so she's extra muscley now
  • combat magic includes the ability to blast the undead away from herself, a giant floating lollipop of a Spiritual Weapon that she can conjure and bash people with from afar, blasts of Sacred Flames, a bolt of magic to be chucked at enemies, and a touch-based necrotizing flesh attack.
  • a big team player

Useful Inventory: physical weapons are a hand axe and a sickle. she also has a healer's kit with some basic healing stuff in it, a steamy romance novel that people can borrow if they need a pick-me-up, a fantastic haversack of holding that can hold a lot of shit without carrying a lot of weight, and the Wand of Smiles, which does exactly what it sounds like.

Current Status: totally able-bodied, very posi energy, here to help and save people (with some light looting of enemies), recently made a morale officer of the Inquisition which she'll tell you guys allll about. also she brought snacks for everyone. hope you like days-old pastries!

Other Notes: Jester would probs choose the scary bridge over the cave brontos for a return trip, but she would be happy to wrestle the cave brontos again. like, they are blind, so how bad could they be, really. and she's ripped so she'll paddle a riverboat herself if it comes down to it.

don't worry that's basically what she does best, maintain peak cuteness while also rolling corpses. wearing an adorable pinafore with deeeeeeeep pockets for stuffing gemstones in.

    [personal profile] mousquetaire 2018-08-18 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
    Things d'Artagnan does NOT like:
    - any of these pastries.
    - hyperpositivity please stop.

But her sacred flames are pretty cool so he'll probably like her anyway. If you can smack down the enemy he can forgive even cheerfulness. Probably.

He would likely also agree with her about the bridge! And if he sees that romance novel there'll probably be teasing, basically I think they'd have a lot to talk about!

    [personal profile] the_cleric 2018-08-18 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
excuse me WHO doesn't like PASTRIES

but don't worry if he turns down the pastries there's more for her so he's really being a friend. and also she'll take every opportunity to offer the pastries, again and again, in case he changes his mind, because she is a good friend in return. that plus fighting together and dishing on romance novels will cement their friendship 4ever.

I'm excited to see what happens!!!!

    Name: Name
    Team: Escapee/Rescuer

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • Expert swordsman, though he'll be able to see it far enough after the amount of Darkspawn he's going to need to fight here
  • Decent at survival; traipsing cross-country with camping supplies isn't anything new to him, though he'll miss his horse
  • Highly sarcastic and Done With All Of This, which you'll no doubt be thrilled about
  • Extremely picky eater, though this means he's a decent cook. He will however be difficult about anyone else's cooking
  • Experienced soldier
  • Prone to rushing into battle without any sort of plan or strategy, you're welcome

    Useful Inventory:
  • His sword and knife, but unfortunately he has no spares
  • A full purse, for once; he was Benedict's paid protection in Tevinter so for the first time in his life he's not short of coin
  • A wheellock pistol with limited shot. He'll not use it unless he has to, but it's there in case of emergencies

Current Status: Able-bodied and very fit, though he'll be tired after the Deep Roads + Darkspawn experience. He's likely to have a few niggling injuries, like bruises, strains and cuts by the time they meet the rescuers.

Other Notes: For anyone familiar, he looks a lot like Benedict Artemaeus - even moreso than usual, since his beard has been shaven and his hair has been cut into Bene's style. This was deliberate so that he could double for him in Tevinter. He's back into his own clothes by now, but feel free to have your character confused about it if they know Bene.

i think a big group thread might be a good way to handle a fight scene if people want one, otherwise i humbly request d'art bitching about jester's pastries and/or other supplies
    mousquetaire: (u n c e r t a i n)

    [personal profile] mousquetaire 2018-08-18 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed re. the fight scene! I would actually love that, a big thread with everyone jumping in when they can is always fun.

Also that can absolutely happen, he is so picky. This isn't how they make pastries in France!!!!!

    Name: Rey
    Team: Rescuer

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • Scrappy fighter
  • Force user who can throw people around and lift rocks and shit with her mind
  • relatively good at not dying

Useful Inventory: She's got her lightsaber and she's the type of person who will always travel with extra rations and shit because of how she lived before Thedas. She also has a mabari

Current Status: able bodied and ready to fight

    Other Notes:
  • wythersake: (Default)

    [personal profile] wythersake 2018-08-18 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
if enough folks want to do a fight log, would yall be interested in one big group thread for it?
    mousquetaire: (w o r r i e d)

    [personal profile] mousquetaire 2018-08-18 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
I think d'Art would've seen Kylo's lightsaber before because they arrived together, but I'm not sure he's seen him use the Force. This will definitely prompt some questions if they get a quiet moment!

    [personal profile] esquive 2018-08-18 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
    Name: Marcoulf
    Team: Rescuer

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • good at swording stuff and following direction
  • a little handy with needle and thread aka he's good for patching injuries if any mage capable of healing is over taxed. It won't be as pretty, but you might be less actively bleeding so hey! win-win.
  • good at camping; he's a pretty acceptable cook and generally knows how to pack for time on the road

Useful Inventory: Sword, dagger, stuff to start a fire with, a torch probably; you know, the kind of junk someone sensible would bring with them if they were planning to mess around underground for a wile.

Current Status: Able bodied, ready to fight, and deeply over being underground.

Other Notes: Condition of others allowing, Marcoulf will definitely vote for spooky chasm bridge instead of hacking and slashing their way back through the brontos. But he'll also go along with whatever the Wardens say because they definitely know more than he does.
  • byblow: (Default)

    [personal profile] byblow 2018-08-18 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)

    Name: Alistair
    Team: Rescuer

    Helpful Skills/Traits:
  • Warden
  • So he knows where the darkspawn are
  • And where he’s going
  • And how to survive in the Deep Roads indefinitely
  • And how to kill a lot of darkspawn quickly
  • And how to yell at people to cover their mouths and not get any taint in open wounds
  • But also the darkspawn know where he is and can deliberately come after them
  • Sorry
  • Swording

Useful Inventory: Sword, probably a crossbow in case, Warden armor, sense of humor, whatever rations and supplies they’re

    Current Status: Heroic.

    Other Notes: Nah.
