In normal, OU canon, Vane has historically been on of the most famous captains of all time, not to mention and within the Black Sails universe, in the top 5 of most feared names in piracy for that. In his Dragon Age AU, that infamousy should be about the same. He's coming from being a pirate trained under Blackbeard for the laaaast 15+ years, having been a pirate captain around a decade so far, and one of the leaders of the coalition to defend Nascere. His last captained ship was a Man of War, a ship larger than Flint's Galleon, but he's captained things even as small as Sloops.
