Rifter Meeting?

Hey Rifter players! I have Marcel here (infosheet, permissions), who is making a move ICly to set up a meeting at the Tavern for Rifters. Some discussion is here, taking place in public, via messenger crystals. This is kind of a plotting post, to gauge interest, take suggestions, etc.

I'm thinking to put up a log this weekend, Jan 23/24 so we can juice as much AC out of it as possible! However, I'd like your input w.r.t. the OOC management of it. Obviously, it's going to be a good opportunity to mingle, get new CR, talk about homeworlds and things of this nature, and that's important.

However, there are a couple of somewhat "plottier" topics that might be good to separate out and potentially write larger group threads for. I'm thinking, maybe through use of subject headers? I know that runs the risk of being confusing and hard to track, but IMO getting diverse character opinions on these kinds of matters is why panfandom is great. As players, your 2c are welcome. Thus far, my proposed 'group' topics are:

Rehabilitating Rifter 'public image' (i.e., not demons)

Identifying potential allies

Discussing individual interest and investment in the Inquisitorial war

• Closing Rifts using the Mark (plans and experiences) —Jamie

Help finding jobs, roots, etc.

Patterns of Rifter arrival —Ariadne

Returning to Rifter homeworlds


Boring logistics/setup:

Marcel got a job at the Tavern (squared away with the mods), and thus a room upstairs is going to be the venue.

The meeting will be advertised via sending crystal, per input from Ariadne and Araceli. Thus, it may be susceptible to drop-ins from curious non-Rifters, despite that they aren't formally invited. He's also going to use Compulsion (see permissions post above) to get an NPC or two to watch the entrances/exits and make sure they aren't about to get attacked or such nonsense. Of course, if someone ICly wants to try that, do apply.

Note that Marcel's proactive efforts to insinuate himself as leader are strictly IC, and off to a wobbly baby-steps start. Both OOCly and ICly, feel free to challenge everything and anything he does.

I definitely think so, and do not foresee anybody ICly objecting. I think that would be great for the public image rehab. =) More integration would certainly be better, from my character's point of view.

Will rifters who were just approved be able to participate? Or will this be set before that?

It makes sense to me to potentially postpone until then! It'd be good to give you all a warm welcome. I can't currently find any information on the timetable for the new Rifters traveling to Skyhold, though. Do you know the approximate date of their arrival? =)

I asked the mods! Apparently we're playing it fast and loose with timelines, so the log is now technically forward-dated to whenever y'all can make it to Skyhold. Feel free to join in, if and when you're able! =)

Thanks to her job back home, Araceli's been taking notes on the things she's learned that I can and will eventually type up, later I can grab a link of how I'll probably format it because I need it for my own reference anyway. She would definitely urge people to share whatever info there is to be shared but also where it came from ie race, mage/not-mage, nationality, etc. She's good at her job mmkay.

Definitely a great idea for the rifters to get together, the above probably would work for points 2, 3 and 4 above like just so people actually know stuff.

I was thinking about offering to make a glossary but I figured that would be overreaching for Marcel (considering how little he knows), and I was worried it might be overkill. So it'd be fantastic and IMO super IC if Araceli/you were to do it! That'd be great. Araceli is awesome at her job.

Yeah, Church has been doing his own research on places and the maps of this world. Also poking into most uncertain terms and some mage stuff since man he's making nice with a lot of mages...

Basically a big ol' intel dump session and notes and shit on just The World of Thedas would be cool.

If there's anything from either volume that Church would've researched - or anyone reading this would've - I'm going through both volumes this weekend for Morrigan related reasons so I'm happy to take any other notes from them and put them in the big info dump post.

Dunno if it'd fall under jobs or interst in the war as I am not awake enough to figure it out but maybe something to discuss actual using of the mark itself and/or gaging interest to see who wants to actually go to close rifts with it, which the people who have so far can chime in on?

Great idea! Put it in the war section and marked it with your character so credit where due.

I think Airy brought it up, but investigating how/why they were dragged through the Rift. Figuring out they were all asleep when it happened, etc.
