Arrival Info

As apps are processed and RP begins, please read on for a few important notes! This post covers rifter arrival information, how to sign up to be in the group that first encounters the rifters, and important info for all about the state of Skyhold at the game's commencement.

Rifter Arrival

All Rifter characters will arrive in Thedas through the same rift at the same time. OOCly, the log for this will be posted on 10/21. This log will be forward-dated, meaning that ICly, it will be occurring a couple days later.

The initial arrival log will not be open to all characters. Only a small handful of native characters will be present in Haven to witness the Rifters actually fall out of the rift. These characters will be chosen at random from those who are signed up in the comments below. Some things to consider when signing up:

Tag speed: This log will be happening in a pretty short span of time. While we don't expect threads to be completed by the 25th (because that would be inhumanly fast) we do ask that players only sign up if they are able to be frequently active during this week to make sure things get moving and that some progress is made before the 25th. We'd also ask that you be willing to keep in touch with each other and with mods to do some handwaving if necessary.

IC Status: This role will be a more natural fit for characters who are already members of the Inquisition or are on their way to Skyhold.

On 10/25, there will be a game-wide event during which Rifter characters and those who found them will arrive back at Skyhold. We ask Rifter characters not to tag outside their initial arrival log until this event. Native characters chosen for the initial arrival log may participate in other RP in Skyhold as long as it ICly takes place prior to 10/21.

Skyhold Status

Two weeks ago, the Inquisition marshaled the full extent of its resources to try to close the great rift in the sky, and were set upon by the forces of their enemy: a being calling itself "the Elder One" and claiming to be an ancient Tevinter magister named Corypheus. He brought with him an army of mages and templars and even a high dragon that glowed red with corrupted lyrium. The Inquisition fought back with everything they had, and against all odds the Breach was closed. But the Herald was lost, dropped dead the moment the sky sealed shut, and Haven fell, ravaged by battle and fire and the avalanche Inquisition forces triggered to cover their escape into the mountains.

The survivors of Haven trekked up into the Frostback mountains and made camp at what they believed was a safe distance. After a couple days in the snow, shell-shocked and unable to decide what to do next, Solas informed them that he knew of a safe place, and led the first wave to Skyhold. The whole of the Inquisition's forces have now relocated there and begun to settle in.

Today, Skyhold is in shambles, the Inquisition is rudderless, and all mourn the heroine who gave her life for Thedas. Some cling to hope that she will return because her body was lost in the avalanche, and salvage teams scour Haven for her remains or sign of her survival. Evelyn Trevelyan was well-liked during her brief tenure as Herald of Andraste, known to be a little withdrawn and reserved but devout and genuinely kind. Many mourn the woman, as well as the leader and the icon.

The mood in the fortress is somber, but also tense: a steady trickle of dignitaries from many corners arrive in advance of the funeral to pay their respects and to inquire-- with varying degrees of subtlety-- whether the Inquisition is about to disband. If it is, who will finish the work it began? And if it is not, who will lead it and which way will it be led? Questions abound.
