wacky montage music

Hi, it’s me again. The Diplomacy Division Head position is still vacant, so Riftwatch is bringing in some potential outside hires for consideration this month. None of them will work out!
WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN
1. You can sign up to have your character be the cause, intentionally or not, of a candidate for the Diplomacy Head position ultimately refusing or being refused the job.
2. We’ll (Cee is helping, thanks Cee) make a list of NPC candidates to fit the reasons we have for them not getting the job, let people know which one their character gets to ruin, and post a little schedule of the days they’ll be on-site for interviews/tours.
3. If you want to log an encounter with an NPC or use the visits for background flavor in other logs or whatever else, you can! But there won’t be a big event or anything.
4. At the end of the week/two weeks/however long it takes based on how many people are involved, there will be a crystal post recapping everyone who wasn’t hired and why, so everyone can bicker/laugh/point fingers/develop headaches/etc.
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE (IF YOU WANT)
You can sign up to have your specific character be the reason (or part of the reason) a candidate doesn’t work out, or you can suggest some general causes that don’t require any specific character’s involvement.
Examples of causes involving specific characters:
- Character A intentionally insults a candidate who’s a bigot.
- Character B uncovers that the candidate is lying about his qualifications.
- Characters C & D accidentally let their pet nugs loose while the candidate is passing through the courtyard and he’s traumatized by their hands.
- Character E’s mere presence appalls a candidate and she leaves immediately.
- Character F considers a candidate a rival or has personal beef or whatever else and puts spiders in her tea.
- Character G suspects a candidate is not as collected as he claims and intentionally needles him into embarrassingly losing his cool.
Examples of general causes:
- A rat climbs into his bed in the guest quarters and snuggles with him while he’s sleeping.
- She had no idea there would be so many pirates.
- The ferry overturns and he tragically drowns.
This is mainly meant to be funny, like a montage of governesses being run off by bad children, and maybe start rumors that the position is cursed or something. It’s not meant to get anyone arrested or really tank the organization’s reputation. If something you suggest crosses the line into big trouble instead of little trouble, I’ll let you know and we can try to figure out a way to scale it down.
There aren’t sign-ups on this post, but you’re welcome to use it to plot if you want to find other people to coordinate something with. Once you know what you want to do, you can sign up here! The deadline is the end of the day on July 7.
CANDIDATE LIST
The following are the candidates who will be visiting the Gallows over the next week or so:
- Annas Lucroy: The third son of a minor lord. Body of a middle aged dad (not a hot dad). Strawberry blond, chisled features on an otherwise soft frame. Loves griffins; laughs a lot. Needs this job. Like, really, really needs it.
- Auffroy Gaudreau: Buff dwarf with muscles the size of your head. Sporting an undercut and tons of tattoos. Plays the dulcimer with a surprisingly deft hand.
- Benoit Silvestre: A young financial prodigy from Antiva who has a great deal of ambition, a perfectly groomed goatee, and very weak nerves.
- Estiene Magnier: Corkscrew curly hair, slightly manic expression. Smiles a lot. Very nice teeth, if a bit too large.
- Franco Calderara: The leader of a guild of candlemakers in Antiva, accustomed to dealing with the Chantry due to its substantial candlestick needs. A very staid man who thinks that Riftwatch's work is important but that they could probably use a mature adult, like him.
- Ghito Acordolo: The lone elven candidate, with swagger that dares anyone to ask him if he actually thinks this is a good idea. Seriously, ask him. He will assure you that it is, then ask at least twenty questions of his own.
- Guillemin Delisle: A young Orlesian, very charismatic in a quiet way, unaccustomed to failure and intolerant of his own mistakes.
- Guyomar De Sonseca: Big dark eyes that you could get lost in. Smokes cigarillos. Very romantic, a poet, also a tortured soul with a dark past. Dresses in deep purples and blacks.
- Hawis Fouché: Pleasantly bland, qualified but not more than qualified, hair that is not well-kept enough for its substantial length, constantly humming.
- Herbertus Gachet: Wears robes. Very bald. Big insect-like eyes. Always wringing his hands. Keeps a handkerchief tucked up his right sleeve, which he uses to mop his brow, fan himself, or cover his mouth in horror when it is appropriately dramatic to do so.
- Luisa De Hermita: Younger than you'd think. Brunette. Heart-shaped face. Very soft hands. Everything she owns is knitted and black.
- Marchionne Marin: A noble's daughter who was an assistant to the Orlesian ambassador to Ferelden. One of several assistants. More of an assistant to the assistant of the Orlesian ambassador to Ferelden, really. But she's enthusiastic and has delightful freckles.
- Martina Klein: Early 40s, dark hair just starting to go gray, friendly but stern. The daughter of professional hunters, kept the books for her parents when they started a hunting tourism service. Sold the business when they died, and decided to throw in with a worthy cause, before her untimely death. Loved children, puppies, long walks on the Storm Coast, and getting caught in the rain. Had half a brain. (Klein will never actually be present in the Gallows, due to circumstances, but her impending arrival can be known/referenced.)
- Meka Calandris: A dwarf of distinguished years who is considering vacating her position on the council of the Merchant's Guild (in order to allow her daughter to take it, of course, not to give it up entirely) for this role. Minimal patience for nonsense.
- Norbert Lewisohn: Tall. Dark. Mysterious. A big curved scar that hooks around the corner of the mouth, like if a fishhook got stuck in their mouth and got pulled back very sharply. Also loves building model ships. Very even tempered and chill.
- Priore Michiel: Slender, blonde, very intelligent. Glasses. Comes from money. Breaks out in hives when coming into contact with any allergens which is, well, anything and everything.
- Tereysa De Palencia: Friendly, ginger, clever but distractible, and excited by the opportunity to get her hands a bit dirty and perhaps have an adventure.
- Velasco Quicedo: An Antivan gentleman who most recently worked as a professor of mathematics at the University of Markham, where his classes were filled with fawning youths. Salt and pepper hair and apparently mild manners until his authority is questioned.
- Viana Velez: The former seneschal to the Viscount of Kaiten, replaced following the Viscount's death and succession. Professional, patient, perhaps overly qualified but seems to be seriously entertaining the idea nonetheless.
