    Wiki Reminders

If you were hoping our wiki obsession was a flash in the pan, sorry to disappoint. We still believe the wiki is the best way to consolidate and organize the incredible volume of game information that has accumulated since Fade Rift opened and make it more easily accessible and digestible, but we need your help!

Division Heads and Project Leaders: please make sure that you have updated your division/project page with information about its general focus and current efforts/priorities, so that players interested in getting involved have accurate info on what's going on and who to talk to IC about various efforts and where they stand. As a reminder, the org comm is no more, so it's a vital requirement of your role to maintain your wiki page as a resource for players. If you need help with formatting please feel free to ask!

Everyone else: here are a few basic things you can do to make sure your character and their contributions are represented in the game info even if you don't feel like making a character page (which are encouraged but not required):
    • Please visit the page(s) for the division your character is in and any projects they work with and fill in the table listing what your character is generally working on, so that others with similar interests know who to seek out. For instance, if you want to say that your character is investigating why some rifts produce rifters and others don't, you should fill that out so that if someone else is interested in having their character work on that too they know to check in with your character about the current status and how to get involved. Or if your character regularly works the night shift on guard duty and does a lot of bodyguard work, you should mark that down so that others whose characters do the same know that's a possible source of CR, and can loop you in for bodyguarding missions, etc.

    • If your character has participated in major game events such as the Battle of Ghislain, the Necropolis disaster, the Arbor Wilds, the Grand Tourney, the Mage-Templar War and so on, you can visit the pages for those events and write in a brief summary of what your character did during them, so others who were also present can be aware of their great deeds (or terrible deeds, as the case may be, mediocre deeds, whatever).

    • If you've run a player plot, you can file a report about it (if you haven't already) or even create a page to record what happened for future reference.

    • If you've invented a bit of new canon (your character's hometown, the traditional Antivan dish they love, a set of colorful Ander curses, your character's noble house, a favorite tavern in Kirkwall, etc.) please add it to the wiki! It can go on the page for the relevant country with a brief description, or have its own page if needed and be linked there instead. If you want to post a thing but you're not sure where, feel free to ask.

If you've done all of the above and would like to pitch in and help us make the wiki all that it can be, please let us know! There are tons of things we'd like to do to make it as useful as possible, but just haven't had time to get to yet. The wiki lends itself well to collaboration and intermittent work so even if you don't have enough time to commit to writing all of a thing, even a section here and there could be helpful. If you'd be up for pitching in with any of the following (or anything else not listed here) hit us up somewhere!
    • A new player/OC or AU creation page that adapts some of our existing information and links to other resources. Basically a starting point for people with a basic rundown of things to be aware of and where to find more detailed info they need about various aspects of the game/world.
    • Fleshing out the pages for Templars, Wardens, and other groups that people who want to app those types of characters may need more FR-specific information about.
    • Editing the news segments currently just pasted onto the various country pages to be briefer and wiki-toned.
    • Fleshing out pages for major game/world events to provide a summary of what happened, what came of it, and links to relevant logs/ooc posts.

    IC & PLOT UPDATES

This is the first month of our three-month cycle. To recap for the unfamiliar or forgetful: that means this is a pretty lowkey month focused on a minor event, backtagging, player plots, breathing room, etc. The second month (September) is generally dedicated to War Table missions taken on by small groups, and the third month (October) will have a new major gamewide mod plot.

Player plot requests are always open!

    August Event

We'll have a Kirkwall-centered game event in the middle of the month! It will be an opportunity for characters get out of the Gallows, get gross, get to know one another while bonding over how gross things are, and get firmly on Kirkwall's good side. We'll put up an OOC post in advance, which will include an optional opportunity to sign characters up for randomly assigned teams.

    War Table Missions

Sign-ups for new War Table missions (to generally take place during September/Kingsway) will be available later this month. Project leaders and division heads can start thinking now about whether you have any ideas! We'll be in touch shortly about the timeline and to help you with anything you need help with.

For everyone else, if you were involved in a war table mission last cycle, please make sure your team posts a report to the rookery comm soon. If reports are missing as of the date we assign new teams, the folks responsible for them will get last priority in sign-ups. Remember that reports don't need to be complicated or long—they just need to provide enough of a record of what happened to allow other people to keep informed about plot developments.

    IC Leadership

No new appointments this month! The next round of IC leadership applications are due August 31. If you're interested, check for current openings and apply before the deadline.
