help wanted
Hiya! This is a sign-up post for three different player plots. I’m sorry. But they’re all pretty simple and low-commitment! I’ll put logs up mid-month, so let me know if you want to come along by September 13 or so. ☆゚°˖* ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
RECON IN THE ANDERFELS
RECON IN THE ANDERFELS
WHO: Alistair and 1-3 people who can reasonably exist behind enemy lines without immediately drawing attention to themselves but can also reasonably defend themselves (or at least run really fast) if attention is nonetheless drawn.BLACKMAIL IN ANTIVA
WHAT: Sneaking into the Anderfels to find out more about what’s going on over there and why. Why, Anderfels, why! They’ll hang out in Hossberg pretending to be pilgrims or merchants or something and mostly keeping their heads down so they can accumulate information and get a read on what the populace believes, while keeping an eye out for signs of dissent and potential contacts for le future. Then they’ll have to make a hasty escape pursued by guards. They might also shove a demon-bound Warden into a sack and bring them back.
HOW: It’s a lot of lowkey info-gathering that will mostly be handwaved, so the main group thread will probably be the chase out of Hossberg. But I can make room for people to do threads focused on the other aspects, too.
WHO: Bastien and 1-3 other people who want to be nonviolently sneaky in Antiva. Amateurs welcome—if someone isn’t good at acting or whatever we can invent a task that’s perfect for them just the way they are.PROBLEM MAGES IN ORLAIS
WHAT: Picking a Merchant Prince’s name out of a hat and digging into his dealings until something that might help change his mind about neutrality comes up. Specifically they’ll be able to get proof one Prince is sabotaging another and use that to make one or the other agree to back them if the others do. (One down, eleven to go!) This is super flexible. So far my two main ideas are (1) befriending a group of pirates who were paid to sink a rival Prince’s ships and getting them drunk enough to talk about it, and (2) pretending to be merchants to get into a meeting and having to improvise a sales pitch for something they know nothing about. But it can be basically anything.
HOW: Winging it! Possibly splitting people up to get different pieces of info in different places off-screen and having the main thread be when they all meet afterwards to compare notes and explain why they’re wet or covered in confetti. Maybe they have to go get a missing party member out of Antiva Jail. The sky’s the limit.
WHO: Kostos and 1-3 other people equipped to track down and neutralize naughty mages. It’ll be pretty Mage Problems focused—maybe also Rifter Problems if any rifters come—but non-mage characters are still invited!
WHAT: As a favor to the Inquisition, which is not involving its own people for morale or objectivity reasons or something, they’ll be looking into reports that Inquisition mages are misbehaving near the front and causing damage to local farms and villages, prompting the locals to complain all mages are rotten and these aren’t being kept on a short enough leash. The culprits will actually be enterprising enemy mages in stolen uniforms, so there will be a nice no-holds-barred scuffle in the woods. Then the locals will throw our heroes a parade! Not really. What’s the opposite of a parade.
HOW: The main two threads will be (1) the fight and (2) a miserable unscheduled camping trip afterwards, but I can make room for other travel and tracking top levels if people want those.

Plot: BLACKMAIL IN ANTIVA
Notes: Does not have to pretend to be a merchant, is actually a fur (& things) trader. Is a fan of blackmail and pitting family members against each other, does it with her own brothers literally all the time. Will enjoy herself Too Much.
Plot: PROBLEM MAGES IN ORLAIS
Notes: Very in to the conceit of neutralizing naughty mages. One of her favorite topics, even though she's only dealt with her own one problem necromancer thus far. Again, will enjoy the task at hand Too Much.
I don't think she needs to do both, but let me know how space and needs shake out. Put them in the order of which is the easiest for her to contribute to.

ANTIVA PLOTTING
To recap:
— I'm going to set up a log where people are arriving post-shenanigans to discuss what trouble they got into and what they found.
— The details of what they found can be sort of handwaved, but basically they'll be different pieces of information (person A contracted with person B on this date, person B received a payment from person C on this earlier date, person C had a secret meeting with Merchant Prince 1 on an even earlier date) necessary to put together a chain of events and demonstrate the Prince was sabotaging someone else. The goal is to do that without killing (or maiming) anybody or causing any significant problems, since we need Antiva to remain stable so it can help us.
— Since the log is starting post-shenanigans, everyone needs to vaguely know what their character went and did! And it can be basically anything. If multiple people want to do the same thing they can say they did it together.
So what I need to know is what thing do you want to say your character did. Things that require costumes or getting people drunk or flirting with people or whatever else are highly encouraged. The goal is also to not actually talk to or spy on the Merchant Princes themselves—we do a whole lot of "mixing with rich people" diplo/spy plots so this one is supposed to be more focused on getting info from merchants/sailors/commoners/etc!
Once you let me know what you want your character to have done, I'll give you a vague piece of info/NPC names/etc. for what they could have discovered by doing that thing.
Then everyone can pile into the log, ideally still in costume or with a bloody nose or whatever else could have resulted from their mini-mission.

Continue being mistaken for gang leader and use it to get in the back rooms at taverns etc, until real gang leader shows up, bar brawl ensues, arrive at rendezvous roughed up but grinning and in someone else's clothes.

Nikos was aware enough to know that he can't quite usually pull off the part of a dashing friendly pirate just come in to buy a round for everyone and hear some stories. that's Caspar's part. but he dug deep, put on some nicer, flashier clothes, leaned into his Antivan side, and... went boozing with a ship's crew.
because he likes wine and (don't tell anyone) Antiva, he actually had a fun night. probably some dodgy moments where he was too himself and not enough Nikos-as-Caspar-as-a-pirate, but mostly solved these by summoning another round of shots.
he'll arrive all partied out, half asleep, smelling of wine and liquor and cheap perfume, friendly than usual, maybe still carrying a bottle.
if other people go the pirate route I'm happy to share the IC details or say we went as a squad or ran into each other or whatever!!

john's 900% going to be liquoring up some pirates. he certainly isn't going to be getting drunk himself, just make sure he always has a drink in his hand to sip on. he'll be in the center of things, ordering drinks, swapping stories, just being generally friendly and charismatic and leaning in on any beneficial mutual pirate associations available while asking some casual questions that hopefully shake out something useful for him to bring back in the morning.
basically just a fun night out that may or may not lead to some gossip.
