[OOC] The Sky is Falling!

Recently a rift opened in Skyhold itself. Although nobody saw it happen, it was rumored to have been opened by a mage native to Thedas and not one of the rifters.

There are damages to the courtyard from where buildings and vegetation have been singed and frozen and dented from the resulting demon battle. It looks a mess. This is a mess.

The purpose of this post is for general opinion gathering, rumormongering, and plotting for the fallout from this fiasco. If people can just open rifts wherever they want, what does this mean for the Inquisition? Can rifters do it, can regular mages do it? Why would someone within Skyhold and ostensibly part of the Inquisition do this in the first place? Why weren't snacks provided?

If you feel so inclined, reply with your character's reaction to the news (or the sight, or the battle) and what action they might want to take, if any. Plot, make CR, do the thing!

He thinks they need to. Once one group starts getting stalked and watched and oppressed, it will seem fine and acceptable to the common people. That word will spread. They'll have a new group to harass the way mages have been harassed, and he believes that no group should be treated like that.

Even worse, news that they're being suspected and watched at all times could cause fear to spread and get rifters and shard-bearing natives killed.

At the end of the day, they're all people, individually accountable. Not a faceless lump of a group.

That is exactly the problem. Furthermore, they need the shardholders. They should be appreciated for coming to the Inquisition, and supported in bearing the struggle that the mark gives them, as well as honouring the Herald's legacy.

She simply hates inaction. Inaction might doom them as much as anything else.

Of course, being really strict on individual accountability might not be so great for Sina, either.

just sliding in because I realised I needed to tweak Leliana's response a bit, because she is so passionately pro-mages and their rights, that I think the same would apply to shardholders :|a so her struggle is going to be protecting them and making sure research is done AND protecting skyhold and the inquisition but... basically she is going to agree with Anders :|b

Leliana, you're the best.

Also they need to have CR, but I think she'd see through him pretty fast so I don't know how to navigate that...

she knows

(no, she doesn't)

and yes, I would love that! I was speaking with Bubbles about this potentially dilemma due to Varric helping Anders with his fake identity and I think Leliana is going to be extra prickly about wanting info on people following the rift thing and the Zevran thing... 8|a

gets him a fake moustache and some glasses???
justice_is_blond: (Just going to interrupt now)

Yes. A fake mustache will fool everyone.

Or maybe it won't. /ponders
