GET YOUR AC HELP HERE

Hey guys! KB here with a little something that I hope will help some people here, especially new people to the game!

Brief backstory: back when the initial AC stuff went up for the game a lot of people in Plurk were mentioning how they had difficulty doing up their AC submissions, especially with regards to the extra AC stuff. That and the fact that it was pretty tedious to keep your HTML together when you have like 50 threads to list out.

SO I went around and made a simple program thing that was pretty much plug n' play to try and help those people! Behold, the Fade Rift AC Thingy (v1.1 as of August 2016).

  • EXTRA AC LISTING PARTY
  • THINGS TO NOTE

    FIRST, LINKS!
WINDOWS VER MAC VER WEB BROWSER??
    booper dooper derp...er...? (OLD)

Download which one works for you best (be sure to keep all the files together or else the executable won't run!), or if you're on a Chromebook (which I was not aware was ever a thing until it was pointed out to me) you can use the web browser version. Just note that using the browser version has two caveats:
  • I made this with Unity so it won't run on Google Chrome because Chrome is a butt and disabled Unity plugins on it - there's no way to work around it (trust me, I've tried). Other mainstream browers do work on it, so just open it on IE/Firefox/Opera or whatever other brower you might have.
  • You need to be logged into a Google account in order to be able to load the content. I'll try to solve the second eventually but I figure most people have a Google account so it shouldn't be as much of an issue.

    USING THIS WEIRD ASS THING
Okay so now you've downloaded and run it or you have it open on a browser. Here's a basic rundown of how to use it, starting with Base AC:

Get your link and put it on the bar at the left, then on the right select the type of proof that it is. Then you--

    CONFIRM THIS SHIT

and stuff should appear in the box shown above, like:
    < b >Base AC:< /b > < a href = http://faderift.dreamwidth.org/57203.html?thread=5766771#cmt5766771 > LOG < /a >
    except without the terrible spacing.

And with that, you have your base AC done! For the people who need to do it twice, just repeat the process and the second proof will be updated into the copypasta box.

With base AC done, now its time for the fun part... extra AC.

    EXTRA AC LISTING PARTY

To go to extra AC click the EXTRA AC button there (it should light up now, and be intractable) and the stuff below will light up as well:

Enter the name of the character you tagged with, then on the dropdown select what kind of proof that it is. After that you--

    CONFIRM THIS SHIT (AGAIN)

and once more the giant ass box at the bottom will update itself with the added proof. Just keep doing it with every link that you have and the c/p box will refresh itself with every new entry.

Finally, once you're done putting it every link that you have to offer for AC, simply click

The FINISH button over there on the right and everything will be totaled up for you. After that you're free to just c/p everything over to wherever you need and voila! AC done!

    THINGS TO NOTE
Most of them are already listed in the program itself but I'll put it here for reference:

  • You cannot shift to Extra AC until you first complete the Base AC.
  • All input fields will reset after you CONFIRM THIS SHIT (aka click ENTER)
  • Names will autocaptalize, so don't worry about doing it yourself.
  • You can edit in the copypasta box in-between adding new proofs - they will still keep and show even when you add new proofs after that.
  • Just to stress: click FINISH ONLY after you have done both Base AND Extra AC

This is of course just a basic thing with the necessary stuff thrown in - I do plan to improve on it in the future (in-between graduation and starting work) with some extra features such as an undo/redo function and tidying up what the open post + thread base AC proof needs since I understand better what that means now. Please feel free to make suggestions! This thing is for you guys after all, and if you guys have ideas on how to make it more useful for you I'd be more than happy to see if its plausible.

I really hope this helps for the people who had trouble with formatting their AC submissions! And feel free to leave a comment here or at my plurk ([plurk.com profile] knightblazer) if you still have any questions about how to use it or just to give feedback in general about this thing.

Now go forth and make your ACs, etc.

(PS. yes, it plays a certain theme in the background. you're free to mute it with the button at the bottom right corner)
