MOD POST ↠ JULY UPDATES

MOD ANNOUNCEMENTS: JULY

OOC & ADMIN UPDATES

Notable Dates

  • Applications: Open indefinitely
  • Leadership Applications: Due July 31
  • CR Meme: Mid-August; most recent one here
  • Test Drive Meme: Mid-July, any minute now

The 9:46 Calendar is here. We've been guilty of letting this fall by the wayside so far this year, but are going to be making an effort to get it updated with dates from recent gamewide events and we ask that you do the same--if you've run a plot or war table mission or event so far this year, please stick it on here! It helps everyone see what's been going on and in roughly what order.

    New AC Rewards

We've updated the AC Rewards page with a new batch of seasonal reward items, incorrectly-sized animals, and a new section of rare but useful apothecary items drawn mostly from Tevinter Nights.

Division Priorities & Other Plot Resources

The Division pages have been recently updated with new priorities, so members should check out what they're focusing on these days and feel free to propose work and plots aimed at furthering those goals. (You can also of course still propose plots that aim toward other goals, they just might be a harder IC sell.)

We've also added a new(ish) page called Ongoing Ventures (look it's really hard to avoid reusing the word 'project') to track stuff characters or groups of characters are working on in the longer term, like science experiments, mystery solving, the overthrow of various regimes, etc.

We hope this will help PCs keep track of who is working on what and what progress they've made, to facilitate collaboration and communication. To that end, it also includes a section for past or currently inactive ventures, and we strongly encourage any players who were involved with past work on things like research into red lyrium, experimentation on rifters, or other intrigues, to fill in an entry (and if necessary a report) so that others can build off the knowledge gained and work done in the past and give credit where it's due without duplicating efforts.

In general, as we all try to turn our brains back on and get plot rolling again, a reminder about some other already-existing resources that we hope might help provide info about what your characters are up to now that they're back at work post-jungle and inspiration for moving forward:
    • All Division and Project pages on the wiki should have current big-picture priorities and overviews of general day-to-day work characters are doing that may help inspire RP. (You should also fill in what your characters are doing lately on the personnel lists while you're there. And make a character info page if you haven't. Maybe help us fill out the event pages? Yes, we're really still trying to make the wiki happen.)
    • Plot Threads is a listing of outstanding questions, mysteries, and problems Riftwatch is aware of
    • Recent News, an update on stuff going on in the world over the last couple months that might prompt a reaction
    • Jobs also has a list of small assignments of various sorts that can be used as a jumping-off point for RP

    Leader AC Reminder

Just a reminder about the new IC Leader AC requirement. The current quarter is June/July/August, and we're just about at the middle of that so while there's no rush, we want to make sure that all players of IC leaders are keeping this in mind as you look ahead at your schedules for the next month and a half. Make sure you're giving yourself enough time to fulfill the requirement!

If you need help coming up with or refining an idea, in addition to the resources above we also encourage you to make use of the IC Leader discord channel for brainstorming and collaboration.

    IC Leader Slots

Currently we have the following leadership positions available:
Project Jeshavis Leader: in charge of counterintelligence efforts in the Inquisition's homebases of Orlais and Ferelden, such as identifying enemy agents, preventing sabotage, blackmail, and attempts to stir up local unrest, and otherwise preventing Corypheus' attempts to destabilize the nations that are standing against him

There are also a number of minor offices available that have fewer AC requirements and are designed primarily to provide RP fodder and color. Examples include:
    • Chamberlain, responsible for handling arrangements for visitors to the Gallows, particularly wealthy and powerful donors.
    • Captain of the Watch, in charge of the details of the Gallows' security, including occasional surprise drills in the middle of the night, if desired.
    • Quartermaster, managing Riftwatch's acquisitions and distributions of food, raw materials, and generally making sure Riftwatch members have what they need to do their work without blowing their shoestring budget.

More details and links to apply for any available post can be found on the Leaders page.

    IC & PLOT UPDATES

    Plot Cycle Shifts: What's Next

As a reminder, for obvious reasons we've given up on the stricter three month cycle schedule we used last year and are playing things by ear so we can be more responsive to activity levels and moods and such. We're attempting to keep following the pattern of non-main plotline event > breathing room > mod plot > breathing room for mod-run plots/events, but on a more flexible time scale.

We'd tentatively told you we were going to do a non-main plotline event in early July, but we think the player-run party has done a great job filling this need for a lighter, CR-building event for this month already, and there are a number of war table operations and player plots in the works for the immediate future, so instead of clogging up the schedule we're going to focus on those things and working toward an August mod plot event.

    Solved Mysteries

We almost forgot: they were in the Donarks, way up the river north of Qundalon. Good work by the research team, who came super close to guessing it despite our limited and often-ambiguous clues.

    question re leader ac plots!

    [personal profile] propulsion 2020-07-12 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
So instead of the previous AC requirement and war table schedule, each division and project will be responsible for posting one war table assignment per three-month quarter. They'll need to be handled similar to the war table operations you've been submitting, except that instead of just coming up with a premise and then having us write the actual operation, you'll need to fill out and submit the whole player plot form.
to clarify - should we use the Player Plot form, or the War Table form?
