PLAYER PLOT SIGN-UPS: HARE COURSING

WHAT'S GOING ON? It's been roughly a year since the demise of Devigny, a nobleman with ties to Tevinter and Orlais and whose name was once spoken in hushed tones in the halls of The Crimson Cat, one of the more disreputable establishments in Kirkwall. On the surface of things, The Crimson Cat is a typical brothel with an unsavory financier and a shrewd bawd, but the façade is flaking like cheap paint over porous stone.

Without Devigny providing protection and coin to The Crimson Cat, Madame Lette has started canvassing for new backers, starting with the men with whom Devigny associated. Most of them are bored nobles with delusions of grandeur and none of the business sense or discretion of Devigny. Talk is beginning to circulate that The Crimson Cat is an unsanctioned establishment, that they are operating without Guild approval, and that local officials are being paid off to turn a blind eye to the abuses that are happening within.

Players will be uncovering those abuses, taking down the noblemen responsible for causing them, and closing down the cathouse that perpetuates them. In the course of doing so, they'll get justice and closure for a number of families at the Alienage and put Riftwatch in good favor with the denizens of Lowtown.

HOW ARE WE DOING THIS? I'll be putting up a closed log for whoever signs up, and tailoring the way I run the plot based on what strikes people as most interesting to play. I'm mostly going to be GMing, not playing an active character role. Because this is an extension of an Athessa-centric plot from last year, she'll be involved in the setup and able to offer assistance where it's necessary, but she won't be the star of the show.

WHO'S DOING IT? This is going to start as a combination of official Riftwatch business and unofficial business; certain characters may be ordered to investigate names from Devigny's agenda as a matter of course, others may stumble upon the scene of a grisly murder or overhear something they deem worth investigating; basically, you don't have to be in a specific division or have a specific skillset to sign up. The adventure will be fine-tuned to what you want to play.

WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING? ICly it'll only take at most a week sometime late Guardian/early Drakonis. OOCly, Sign-ups will be open until 11:59pm February 28th. I hope to put the log up no later than March 7th.
