player plot: party in the d.a.s.

WHAT: Trying to convince the party capital of Thedas that sending aid to refugees in Ansburg would be very sexy of them.
HOW: Riftwatch has an invite to a gathering of Wycome notables: the rich and/or noble, as usual, but also artists and performers, career gamblers, drunk philosophers, influential mistresses, fêted expatriates too scandalous for their homelands, etc. The expected vibe is lavish but loose. No blood feuds for failing to curtsy correctly. Skinny dippers in the fountain are more likely than assassins. Riftwatch's mission will be to generate interest in aiding refugees without being total drags about it.
You can use the log as a backdrop for CR development/shenanigans as usual, but you also have the option to sign up for NPC Trading. If you opt in, I'll pair you up and give you a name and a prompt for the NPC you're writing. Threads will be structured like this one that Abby and Cass did, where in each of your tags, you'll both write an NPC for someone else and respond to the NPC they're writing for you, in two simultaneous separate conversations. But these will be way less dire than torture.
WHO: Bastien, Byerly, and 2-4 other folks who either know how to talk to people or are so novel and interesting (rifters! barbarians!) that it will seem cool that they don’t.
If there are more than four sign-ups and I have to RNG, Diplomacy Division members will have priority for two slots and the other two will be wildcards.
WHEN: Sign up by September 17; the log will go up around then.

I would prefer to play an NPC who… (check one or both if you don't care which)
[ ] is ridiculous and needs to be convinced in a ridiculous way.
[ ] is less ridiculous and needs to be convinced in a normal way, such as with cogent appeals to compassion.
I would prefer to play my PC against an NPC who… (check one or both if you don't care which)

Would you like to roll dice to determine how your NPC responds?* Yes/No/Either way works.
With or without dice rolls, would you enjoy it being possible for your character to fail?** Yes/No
Would you rather write write an NPC who knows a lot about what’s going on in the world or one without a clue?
Any other preferences?
* This is so I can potentially (if anyone actually wants to do this) match folks with similar dice use preferences.
** The NPC for the thread will be one of several persuadable people PCs will be working on throughout the evening, so if your character does fail with this specific NPC, you can still say they succeeded fabulously elsewhere. But if you wouldn’t have fun with a thread where they failed, there’s no shame in saying no!

With or without dice rolls, would you enjoy it being possible for your character to fail? No, just because it's his first debut as a competent agent of Riftwatch.
Would you rather write write an NPC who knows a lot about what’s going on in the world or one without a clue? Leaning to later, but happy to do the former too.

Anything else? There's also the rifter thing, he's fine with not keeping that private when it's necessary! Will definitely default to keeping 'being magical' quiet, though.
NPC Trading: yyyyes sure I'll go for it-- but if you end up with an odd number feel free to not assign me to it! I'm good either way.
