CHARACTER
Name: Dr. Mohinder Suresh
Info Page/App: Here, with app links and everything!
Who They Are: A geneticist who started out studying superpowers and then decided he wanted to become the superpowers. Has recently, narrowly avoided a full-blown villain arc over that and feels real bad about it. Mohinder is the kind of guy who will pave the way to hell with his good intentions, fail to realize he's in hell at all until he's up to his knees in a lake of fire, and then assume the hell situation is everyone's fault except Satan's.
Where They've Been: India, then New York, then New Jersey, which was nightmarish enough to drag him into the Fade and out of a rift.
What They Want: A laptop and internet access, but he'll settle for a library. He just really wants to be useful to people, and while he'd like to be able to do that with his research skills, he is also open to doing it with his newfound punching-things-real-good abilities. Or both, ideally.
Plot & CR Desires:
-- He's going to be so relieved that there are other scientists here from similar times and worlds to his own, but I'd love for him to bond with other members of Research as well--it won't take him too long to get over the mental block about magic and he really is at his happiest when he gets to nerd out.
-- He's got the raw potential to be pretty decent in combat, but no actual training. His fighting style right now is "grab the nearest heavy object, swing wildly with it, hope for the best." Since I'd like to send him on the fighty kind of missions, it would be awesome if someone could teach him how to use actual Thedosian weaponry--something like a sword-and-shield setup might work well for him, but it just depends on who wants to teach what.
-- He's got a massive melodramatic atonement complex at the moment, because that's apparently a hard prerequisite before I pick up a character. If he gets annoying with it, which he will, please feel free to tell him so.
Anything Else: I missed this game and I'm glad to be back!

Hi! I'm Charlie and I'm new enough that I don't think we were in the game at the same time! (I say new, it's been a couple years...)
I play Ellie here, grown up apocalypse orphan, science fiction/superhero nerd who loves knives and is trying to make slightly better choices, and Jude, who will subject you to his cooking experiments and turns into a big scary wolf sometimes.
no subject
Mohinder could definitely have plenty to talk with Ellie about on both the superhero front and the Making Better Choices front (and also just the "holy shit how did that happen to your world" front, because it's the kind of thing he would be fascinated by if she's willing to talk about it.)
I also just love the entire idea of Jude and his pancake generosity and calming aura, and Mohinder would also have so many questions about the wolf thing. Definitely lots of things for them to talk about!

I think we may have just missed one another (or I was too new at the time to clock who was who), but I'm Abby and I'm playing this dude (pirate, machiavellian schemer, commander of Forces division), Laurentius Vesperus (Imperial Chantry brother, dweeb in the body of an imposing goth), and Wysteria de Foncé (fantasy!regency magical girl turned mad scientist).
Wysteria is constantly on the hunt for like-minded criminals to do extremely ethical and definitely not science crimes with. She would LOVE to help him get over his mental block re: magic.

I am excited for all of these, but absolutely Wysteria for sure--I loved her already on the TDM even if I didn't get back to the threads, and I can't wait for Mohinder to meet her, immediately think "this sounds legit :D!" and get himself into whatever trouble she can inspire.
He just can't stay away from science crimes, bless him. Especially not if they're magic crimes, and therefore totally different. It's gonna be good.

I definitely wasn't here when you were previously, but welcome back!

I’m Julie and I have one Doctor Strange here, who also has a deep familiarity with science, magic, superpowers, and making really terrible decisions because he thinks he knows best, so this is apparently the cross-canon CR I never knew I needed until this very moment. He’s also in Research, poking and prodding at how Thedas world ticks and where its seams line up with his own world, so they should be pals, I’m just sayin.

And I really wish I were more canon-familiar with Doctor Strange than I am, just because everything I do know about him has had me like "Mohinder has to hang out with this guy." Just every aspect of this description is like "this needs to be a thing."
Mohinder's definitely going to want to hear Strange's outsider perspective on Thedas after he's heard it from the native Thedosians, so I'll definitely have him come seek that out once he's gotten himself officially situated in Research.

i think we also might have been ships in the night, i'm eppy and i am rattling around with john silver (pirate, liar, master of information), derrica (rivani mage from dairsmuid, healer, soft, head of project haven) and ellis (grey warden, fereldan, tired)
i was pumped to see this gent on the tdm and i CAN offer you some weapons training (ellis) and maybe magic help (derrica) or just someone to drink with (john)

Especially weapons training, which I'd love to set up, especially since "giant fuck off mace" is a weapon that I think would also appeal to Mohinder a lot. That and whatever aspects of Warden-ness Ellis would be willing or allowed to explain, because he'd be really curious.
And Mohinder should definitely meet Derrica as well, for magic help and maybe also some project-based advice on how to be less offensive to the Chantry, because he'll probably need it.
no subject
you're in luck mohinder because derrica JUST ran a whole month's worth of "how to be inoffensive to chantry mothers" so he will get those notes fresh and gently delivered. of course magic help is also on tap, she would be thrilled to hear abt his experience of magic from home.

welcome to team science crimes

(I mean, Mohinder is not happy to be doing the science crimes, he is in fact very sad about the science crimes, but he's inevitably going to do more of them anyway. But now he has company!)
