Mage Council Plotting!

Hear ye, hear ye!

As of this meeting taking place on 3 Firstfall, the mages of the Inquisition have agreed (somewhat) to form a Council of Magi for the purpose of organizing the mages of the Inquisition, ensuring their rights and enforcing a code of conduct.

The number of members of the Council has not been decided, but there is a vague idea that different sects from within the mages present in the Inquisition will be represented.

This post is to hammer out the details of this council, as well as compile a list of topics that need to be addressed by them presently.

Everybody come in and talk about things!

mm. even w an open amount of slots on the council, there's gonna be a limit on how many people can feasibly sit on it. i don't think mages really need a non-mage handler, that's a bit defeating the purpose of having a functional and level headed council (with a tie breaker number) in my eyes.

Like I mentioned above, I wasn't saying that they need people to handle them. More like somebody to act as an in between given the distrust mages still have with the common folk. Theyd be a middleman of sorts more than handling them or whatever. Hopefully that makes more sense? Again not saying they need a handler - just a liaison to bridge things together if needed.

yeah, i get you, i'm talking more about the impression of it. but 'handler' aside, mages can talk reasonably to nonmages, and like libby pointed out, like, the committee will be mainly talking to the advisors, which should be fine, and also the templars -- and i think forging relationships directly is good rp opportunity like i suggested below.

basically i'm in the camp of streamlining this where possible! dorian would be like 'why, we don't talk a different language' in response, on an ic level.

edit: an alternative idea -- we could have a chair reserved for non-mages to observe, so it's not clandestine mage meetings? not a decision maker, but an observer/witness. i don't know if the mages would want to go full confidentiality or not, but if not, that could be a good role for a nonmage.

amygdalae: the alternative is getting angry (this is me trying to be nice)

Yeah I could have worded my initial comment better but being outside + cramps = fun times. But yeah that all sounds perfectly reasonable, so my bad!

The alternative idea does sound good though :o it'd def open up some doors for non mages if ICly the mages are for it. I think that too would help the common folk have a bit more trust in mages too if they're open stuff like that. It would help with communication and understanding, I think.

no bad done! it was an interesting idea and it's a good point to find a way to involve a nonmage.

also that role can be rotated and generally open to whoever wants to attend, and also however many. maybe just a requirement being 'at least one' if someone is interested in being a constant.

Yeah that sounds totally plausible and fair. It sounds like something that could happen if things go ahead and the mages are open for that! Plus it'd make for some interesting CR and stuff like that.
