MOD POST ↠ July Updates

JULY (SOLACE)

ORGANIZATIONAL/OOC UPDATES

OOC Calendar

Check the calendar for additional dates, but here are the upcoming important ones:

  • RIFTER ARRIVAL + CR MEME: July 8
  • TEST DRIVE MEME: July 15
  • RESERVES: July 25 (12:00 am EDT) - July 31 (11:59 pm EDT)
  • ACTIVITY CHECK: Due by July 31 (11:59 pm EDT)
  • APPLICATIONS: August 1 (12:00 am EDT) - August 5 (11:59 pm EDT)

As of this month, we will be posting the TDM on a bimonthly basis and promoting the old meme on off months.

    Application Updates

There are no changes to the Application caps this month.

    In summary:

  • Three total characters per player.
  • No more than one canon Dragon Age companion or advisor.
  • No more than one rifter.
  • No more than two elves, and only one of those elves may be Dalish.
  • No more than two mages, and only one of those mages may have been an apostate for any period of time prior to 9:40.
  • No Dalish or Tevinter characters unless they are Dragon Age canon characters.
  • AU or OC Wardens must be coming to the Inquisition from Weisshaupt and the recent events there.

All of our caps and limits are intended to promote balance in PC perspectives and prevent characteristics that should be uncommon from becoming so prevalent that the social dynamics that make those characters enjoyable to play are lost. We'll continue to revisit them each app round and revise them based on the game's overall demographics.

    Reports

We have added a new Reports page that we ask everyone to check out, especially if you have run or are planning to run a player plot. We're asking that people running plots, participating in war table ops, or doing anything unplanned/unofficial that may have wider implications for the game world please fill out and submit a form to let us know the outcome of the plot/mission/situation. It's very short, and will help us do a better job of taking PC action into account and showing how it's shaping Fade Rift's world. It will also provide a record to help new players get up to speed on what's been going on.

We are not asking that you fill in a form for every player plot or war table mission run since the beginning of the game! You're welcome to do so if you want, and there is a place for those to be entered, and we will read them if you do. But we do want everyone who has run a plot in May or June to please fill out and submit these as soon as possible. Going forward from July on they will be required for player plots and war table operations.

    IC News

Also in pursuit of giving a better sense of Fade Rift's world, we're starting to try to provide periodic IC News posts like this one. We don't have a set schedule for them yet, but our hope is to use them to give context to the Inquisition's story by showing what's going on in the rest of the world, to highlight important developments in Skyhold and abroad, to show how others are reacting to events and Inquisition action, and to provide inspiration for RP and player plots or sometimes to seed elements of upcoming modplot.

They are open for PCs to discuss with each other in the comments if they'd like but generally will not include NPC responses from us. They usually will be about big picture stuff, and we continue to encourage the use of the News & Gossip page for Inquisition internal and inter-personal news and gossip. Everything in IC News posts and on the News & Gossip page is fair game for PCs to be aware of ICly.

    Wanted Page

ATP is pretty dead, and so we're trying out some other methods of letting current and potential players know what we're looking for. To that end, we've put together a Wanted page. You can use this page to list characters you'd like to see, including vague ideas for OCs or specific OCs related to your own character in some way in addition to the usual canon character lists.

    PLOT/IC UPDATES

    Upcoming Plot Developments

This month begins another major modplot segment focused on the Inquisition's foray into the Grand Game in Orlais. As usual there will be an open post as well as a series of GM-directed modplots. Because of the more political focus of the problems in Orlais, the modplots will work a little differently than usual, and more information as well as sign ups for the first round of mod plots can be found here.

    Skyhold Expansion & Residences

Thanks to the efforts of the Mage Council, an area of land directly adjacent to Skyhold has been leveled and stabilized to allow the construction of additional housing facilities for Inquisition members. Construction has been on-going on two barracks buildings, one of which is now completed.

The building is two stories, constructed of wood and stone, and is designed to house as many agents as possible to free up the rooms in the castle for noble guests. The rooms each include either two cots or two sets of bunk beds, and are narrow enough that two people of average height sitting across from each other on the beds with their backs to the wall are likely to find their feet meeting in the middle of the room. But they each have a small, high window to let in some light, so there's that! Very basic furnishings are provided. Roommates can be chosen or assigned, but all rooms will be fully occupied. As a reminder, we have a spreadsheet to help keep track of where characters live.

In addition to the other barracks building there are a few smaller auxiliary buildings still under construction. There are rumors that another bathing facility is one of those in the works, but has not yet been completed.

Down in the valley, the mages also flattened another area of land where a collection of less-permanent wooden buildings have been constructed to house refugees. These additions will all be added to the Skyhold page shortly.

So, say, hypothetically, a plot ran, hmm, five logs long over two months.

Would the plot runner, in that hypothetical situation, have to write five reports?

    Gotcha, thank you.

Also you deleted your gagtag way too fast, I had a reply ready and everything.
