yes another player plot! demon possession player plot: sign-ups/plotting!

Who: Kain/a desire demon, and 3-5 others! (I'm ok with an extra-ish if it turns out that way)
What: A small player plot involving demonic possession
Where: Just outside Skyhold in the mountains
When: September 8th

Remember that trip to the Fade? Wasn't that fun? Well, someone has gotten himself a souvenir! Kain will be returning in September from his little solo trip… possessed by a desire demon (one who pestered him back in the Fade and got away... and now came through a rift to chill out inside Kain). A little bit of background for the unfamiliar: in canon, Kain is mind-controlled by the main bad guy, so he has an exploitable mental weakness, and a tendency to go around stabbing his allies when under an outside influence. It's a perfect opportunity to mess with him and his allies!


Unfortunately, the battle will lead to Kain's death. Because these death things always have to come in threes, you know. It won't be instant, but it'll be happening shortly after the end of the battle, so everything is going down in the same day/post. Per the mods, the Inquisition will want to be very very careful about keeping knowledge of the whole possession bit from the public (but there's always room for internal discussion and tension and unease of course... The demon threat is real! Maybe rifters are demons after all!?!! All the old fears about possession freaking mages out... and so on). So one small request: whoever makes the death announcement on the 8th will have to be make sure it's locked strictly to the Inquistion (or just glaze over the details and say he went down in a demon battle, keeping the full story to private conversations).

I'm going to need 3-5 people to be involved in fighting the possessed Kain (and possibly some lesser demon friends). Since I'd like to get a forward-dated post up soon, I'll keep sign ups open over the weekend, and get that post set up for sometime early next week.

I figure since this is a smaller-scale plot, I'll just add a comment below for any plotting that's needed too! Want an excuse to get your character really badly hurt by an ally? Taunted and tempted viciously by a desire demon? Here's your chance! I'm pretty open for how word gets out at the start, too, I was thinking there would be reports of demonic activity drawing folks out to investigate... and then some unfortunate NPC gets found with a lance stab wound...



(As a side note... Apologies to the entire Inquisition: Bastard the swearing parrot will be a total pain in the ass without an owner around to keep him busy!!! Feel free to let him pop up wherever at inappropriate moments after the 8th. Someone will have to look after Kain's dracolisk too. But never fear... I won't be fully leaving the game for long. I hope to re-apply with an AU soon, so keep an eye out for that in September's TDM. :) Maybe the bird will find a new friend... eventually.)

Anders likes Kain, and I'd love for him to be involved. Since he's doing a few things this month and is signed up for possibly doing another, and he's a healer I won't be hurting him majorly, but I'm up for basically everything else!

The funny thing is, this is EXACTLY something Kain says in his game (basically asks to be killed if he's mind controlled again)... so he will be deeply grateful in his last moments of life! That sounds good too, Anders should be able to easily avoid too much damage, or heal himself up!

She's- oh, heck, you know what kind of fighter Rydia is, she's not going to take this too well and I'm open for basically anything.

And yes \o/ I look forward to it when you go through with it. Bruce's CR with Kain here has been pretty great and having a new angle with the AU self will be interesting to explore. (Bruce knows better than to say something he can guess a lot of people have already said... its okay Kain he's got you.)

I'm really looking forward to it too! I've enjoyed what I've done with the rifter, but I really can't wait to play around with the AU, and being part of the world and everything... I have so many ideas for this!! Plus, it's nice having some cool CR like Bruce to work with for the new one. (Yay! That'll definitely earn favor with him).

Exactly, this is all for the greater good! It only looks bad. I am forever amused that they played around with that plotline for him, but in a different way than being actually controlled by the other side. (You should! I just love all the connections the characters have, especially those who've been seemingly fighting for a few cycles... it's just a fun thing having them all shoved together like that).

Yes AUing stuff is my jam... if Bruce wasn't obvious enough, lmao. I mean there are times where I wish Bruce had been a rifter instead because he'd be providing a lot of interesting commentary, but for the most part I'm glad I stuck with AUing him. Its really been a heck of a ride so far and there's still more to come. \o/ (Come Kain... we can be dracolisk buddies again...)

It was very fun and very good and he was Too Badass For Everyone. (AND I PROBABLY WILL... EVENTUALLY... its been a while so yeah. I also have too many other games to play /cry)

Oh yeah, definitely, I can see the appeal in doing either. Modern regular Bruce would be great too, but the Hulk-demon thing is a really cool way of translating it! I definitely fretted over it for a while before apping... I don't think I really had much of a developed idea at the time, tbh. It's more clear now, and I can't wait to see how this goes! (Bonding over freaky dragon-horses is the best type of bonding!)

Regular Bruce would be nice since then he's less inclined to be an ass about everything he's being an ass about now and be concerned with other things like MODERN TECHNOLOGY but yeaaaah, it could get old eventually in some fashion. Plus I'm a sucker for AUs!! I had been thinking about Bruce in dragon age already for a few months before this game was a thing and I figured since I already had the idea, why not. But I'm excited to see what you're gonna AU Kain as!! (MAYBE... POSSIBLY... Bruce reserves his judgement.)

Yeah! I definitely see the appeal in playing a modern times character in this sort of setting, because trying to adapt would just be so much failure and awfulness! But the AU thing definitely seems like fun, I've always stuck to canon in games, so I'm curious to see how this goes long-term. Basically, he's gonna be a Grey Warden and have a couple dumb Kain-ish moments in his past!! (WE WILL SEE SOON ENOUGH.)

A) A family. This includes having Leviathan, Asura, her mother and Cuore at her side, being 'home' with them. Also, please, press the cancel button on the SKY Application, home is where a good old ceiling of dark rock is.

B) To become a Dragon herself, a monster eventually. No longer being the humanish outvast' of the Feymarch but being 'one of them' (not that they ever made her feel inferior but the whole thing of Asura kicking back on thesurface because she had to stay with humans still hurts).

C) To be 'normal' and just don't know what being a Feymarch is like. Having a mom, being a normal village girl and being able to appreciate a life she finds so SO boring.

D) To meet her summons again, she feels so lonely in this new world...

Same for the demon in general, too, it won't go blabbing that it senses some kin or something. Though, would it even be able to sense anything? The demon wouldn't be physically attempting possession (just the coercion), so I think that also should help.

And you're free to play with it however you want - during the Fade plot in the Approach I did put it as the demons sensing that he was one of them and mostly left him alone for the most part. But that was in the Fade, so thing were wonky there anyway hahaha. Feel free to do what you think is best as long as again it doesn't spill the beans on Bruce's ~deep dark secret~
