(OOC PLOTTING) the stars go waltzing

Teams have been selected for the missing shardbearers player plot!

I'd also like to thank everyone who signed up; the enthusiastic response has made me super keen to try and do more plots with these themes in the future, so I'll keep you posted! I'm so sorry I couldn't figure out a way to involve everyone ;;;;

TIMELINE sorta kinda.

• Team One arrives in a village in Orlais; whether they came from Skyhold, from anther mission, from Halamshiral, etc. is flexible.
• Successfully close rift one, but during their effort to close rift two they are attacked by a Fuckload of Venatori.
• Team One taken to an old Tevinter fortress, and experimented one for Some Days.
• After/during the abduction and imprisonment: Skyhold receives word from the village that the second rift is still a problem, and deploy Team Two to close it and find out what happened.
• Team Two close the rift, investigate, find Avery and some clues, and then track the Venatori to their fortress.
• Clearing/investigating the fortress, a lot of creepy stuff to be found, npc fights and traps. And then, into the dungeon! Basically: fight bad guys, save rifters.
• BOSS FIGHT.
• Journey back to Skyhold.
• ???


LET'S ESTABLISH...

• FOR EVERYONE: my original proposed post date for this was the 10th; for the sake of doing some threading of team one and team two's travel before we get into the heavier plot stuff, would you like me to post it a couple of days sooner? my reasoning for this is it would give people a chill extra couple of days so we aren't diving into everything all at once, but it's just an idea and I am 100% happy to go with the original post date, as well.

• FOR TEAM ONE: handwave closing the first rift, y/n?

FOR TEAM ONE: would anyone like to attempt a solo/group escape that goes horribly? Cosima, Lexa and Jamie are on the case (lmk if I missed someone!)

FOR ANDY: Andy, bro, bruh, do you want Avery to be dragged along with team two or just allowed to have a nap? Totally up to you :]b AVERY IS TAGGING ALONG yay

• FOR TEAM TWO: I thought we could handwave closing the second rift and just have the thread start with the rift closing, y/n? Are you happy with investigation stuff being semi-party style, aka. characters post threads and investigate in groups of two or three and I npc clues? (Avery is one of the clues, potentially?) Handwaving is go, and I've figured out a PLAN for the clues and stuff based on people's comments and some rad ideas people offered me, tyty :]b

• FOR TEAM TWO: for the random investigating team ups I was planning on RNGing for opportunities to cr build, but I can leave deciding which characters group up to you guys - what's your preference? TOO BAD IT'S RNG

• FOR TEAM TWO: would your character want to

FOR EVERYONE: would you like separate chatty plotty post for each team in my journal (with FILTERS oohh technology) so that we can plot and scheme specifics for each team and keep them a ~~~surprise~~~ for the other team, or does that hold zero appeal? Let's just stick with this one ayyyy

• FOR EVERYONE: do you have anything you'd really like your character to get to do this plot in terms of random heroics or... anything, really? It'd be cool if we can accomodate random scenarios you'd like to play or character development stuff, although obviously it all depends on what works with the plot, etc.

• FOR EVERYONE: I'd like to keep elements of the bossfight to being a bit of a surprise before it happens. Are folks okay with that? If I just post an injury/permissions thing for the plot generally (see below) are you happy with me using that for npcing the boss fight as well even if you don't know much about it?

• are there any questions I have neglected horribly oh my god I am bad at these posts



PROPOSED THREADS & FORMAT.

I've made up a post with the threads I'm currently planning to write up and what format they'd take (party style, one thread, etc) which is HERE. If you could take a peek at that and answer these questions, that would be great.

— is this too many threads? is it overwhelming? if yes, what should we look at cutting?
— alternatively: are there any other threads you'd like to do that I've not provided a space for?

— action or prose are always fine, I figure just go with whatever you're most comfortable with and helps you tag fastest. Some of my GMing things will be really simply laid out action responses, just to make what is happening really easy to understand (and avoid my tendency to excessive rambling sentences lbr.)

As I have mentioned a few times (I'm so sorry) I'm going to be NPCing bad guys, traps and so on. Please fill in this form to make this easier and include it in your comment with your response for discussion stuff!

To be clear, although I will set up injuries, you get the final say on just how bad they are, etc. If your opt for your character to only get minor burns I might say they are in the range of a flame trap, and you can decide how that goes. If you opt for your character to get grievous burns I might say they are in the middle of the flame trap, but you still get to decide if they dodge somehow, just how bad it is, etc.

  • Bruce would prefer to lie low and wait for an opportunity to strike... he is somewhat decent at being quiet and sneaky so he can, idk, whack Venatori unconscious with his staff or a rock or something.
  • I don't think we really need to filter out stuff? But I'm cool either way. Though keeping it separate might be easier to see though I think you can do the same effect by keeping it in separate threads.
  • Bruce has no good heroics to give, just him being here is amazing enough by itself tbh

    CHARACTER Jamie McCrimmon

    SUPPLIES FORM
    Jamie's broadsword and armor are standard-issue Inquistion gear (because his fancy schmancy dargon armor is still being worked on) or generic if needed for the mission, but he also has his dirk from home, and his sporran with odds and ends in it like string and a sharpening stone for the dirk and maybe a interesting rock. He also has his kilt and a plaidweave cloak, a small St. Christopher's medal and a broken watch he still insists on wearing even though it is broken.

    Offence: Sword fighting (both one and two handed as need), dirk, hand-to-hand, yelling 'Creag An Tuire' at the top of his lungs and occasionally shooting projectiles out of his hand at the enemy (which can be random or fizzle, he hasn't really gotten any real training on how to reliably hit with these yet)
    Defence: Sword fighting, dirk...pretty much the same thing as above. Also agile and good at dodging.
    Anything else? Has been known to get conked on his head a few times over the years. Might be able to get distracted by pretty lasses.

    Sabine favours stealth approaches, maybe a mixture? Sneaking into fortresses and unlocking from inside, or moving to free captives while the tanks tank? Like fortresses are innately built to defend, and this one is full of wizards, so having a two-pronged approach seems wwwise.

    Other stuff:

  • Handwaving the rift close is good by me. She will be there to help with that.
  • RNG is fine! I'm easy with the majority vote.
  • See above about stealth ideas.
  • The chattychats doesn't appeal to me. I think this is best figured out OOCly and getting into the action, and additional surprises may just be hard.
  • If I get my stealth ways, I'm a happy camper. If we go 100% tanking in, then I'll probably just find opportunities to do some heroics but she will probably get injured, because consequences.
  • Surprise bossfight is fine!

    SUPPLIES FORM
    Her armor is mostly leather with some light plate and a heavy shoulder-guard on her left. She has two short swords that I think I said are everite, and a long sword like this one but without the fire rune shown. Unfortunately. Several daggers, one very small one hidden in a tiny sheath braided into her hair.

    Offence: Highly skilled warrior, best with sword, dagger, and dual wielding two swords. Can throw a mean spear. Excellent at hand to hand, good at opponents larger than her (which is most everyone human). Can sneak.
    Defence: No special resistances.
    Anything else? Excellent stamina, high pain tolerance, cautious but fearless.


    INJURY FORM

    Physical pain: Grievous
    Lacerations & puncture wounds: Moderate if they can't be healed by magic, Severe if they can.

    NOTES: Basically I'd rather not get her so injured that she's unable to participate at all in escape attempt and boss fight, or in ways that magic can't heal before she goes back home to her hold. Disappearing is bad enough but if she gets brought home to the Avvar massively obviously injured in some way it's going to make it harder for me to justify her coming back and personally working with the Inquisition more.

    SUPPLIES FORM
    Bellamy will have his nice basic cobbled-together-from-scraps-and-corpses armor (mostly leather + a little bit of steel, equipped with some old runes to protect him from fire), his shield, his sword, one dagger, his horse, and a crossbow. nothing too special but ye olde fire runes. sorry.

    Offence: SWORD AND DAGGER. he's trained with both of these and he's got combat experience, including scrappier guerrilla fighting. less good with his CROSSBOW. he's not a very good shot.
    Defence: ARMOR AND SHIELD. and he can take a hit really well.
    Anything else? he loves taking a Brave Stand So Others Can Escape and he's got great arms ok you want him on your side

    Her sword, dagger and medium Grey Warden armor because it's easier to do flips + a sweet hood. She also carries around five throwing knives at any given time. Her sweet horse will be there too.

    Offence: Experienced with a sword, pretty decent with throwing knives at people and can throw a mean punch. Fights to exploit weaknesses in her enemies rather than going at them with pure strength. Deadly at mounted combat.
    Defence: Good at dodging! She twirls, cartwheels and flips around like an arcobat.
    Anything else? Gross Grey Warden.

    SUPPLIES FORM
    Standard leather armor, probably not Warden since this isn't exactly representative of them. Her two main/visible daggers are long stilettos reminiscent of needles, very mean looking. She also keeps literal needles on her person at all times, and can slip them out through a sleeve or from her boots.

    Offence: She fights hella dirty, as any good rogue should. Keeping mostly out of sight and then striking at a moment's notice, she uses her whole body and isn't afraid to literally scale a person with her daggers. She's very quick and well-aimed with her knives, although much faster than she is strong.
    Defence: As noted above, she's not very strong and relies on speed and/or surprise to get out of hairy situations. That and deflection are more or less her only defenses.
    Anything else? Her endurance is pretty good, since she keeps herself conditioned, but she's also in her mid-forties and a Warden. Her strength won't hold up for as long as younger people's would, and she will likely take a bit longer to recover.
