(OOC PLOTTING) the stars go waltzing
Teams have been selected for the missing shardbearers player plot!
I'd also like to thank everyone who signed up; the enthusiastic response has made me super keen to try and do more plots with these themes in the future, so I'll keep you posted! I'm so sorry I couldn't figure out a way to involve everyone ;;;;

| TEAM | ONE | TEAM | TWO |
| Araceli | Ruby | Adelaide | Merrill |
| Martel | Avery | Bruce | Korrin |
| Cosima | Daenerys | Bellamy | Ciri |
| Jamie | Lexa | Sabine | Teren |
![]() • Team One arrives in a village in Orlais; whether they came from Skyhold, from anther mission, from Halamshiral, etc. is flexible. • Successfully close rift one, but during their effort to close rift two they are attacked by a Fuckload of Venatori. • Team One taken to an old Tevinter fortress, and experimented one for Some Days. • After/during the abduction and imprisonment: Skyhold receives word from the village that the second rift is still a problem, and deploy Team Two to close it and find out what happened. • Team Two close the rift, investigate, find Avery and some clues, and then track the Venatori to their fortress. • Clearing/investigating the fortress, a lot of creepy stuff to be found, npc fights and traps. And then, into the dungeon! Basically: fight bad guys, save rifters. • BOSS FIGHT. • Journey back to Skyhold. • ??? • FOR EVERYONE: my original proposed post date for this was the 10th; for the sake of doing some threading of team one and team two's travel before we get into the heavier plot stuff, would you like me to post it a couple of days sooner? my reasoning for this is it would give people a chill extra couple of days so we aren't diving into everything all at once, but it's just an idea and I am 100% happy to go with the original post date, as well. • FOR TEAM ONE: handwave closing the first rift, y/n? • • • FOR TEAM TWO: • FOR TEAM TWO: • FOR TEAM TWO: — charge in and take the fortress by force? — watch and assess and take it with stealth and cunning? WE'RE DOING BOTH AWWW YISS • • FOR EVERYONE: do you have anything you'd really like your character to get to do this plot in terms of random heroics or... anything, really? It'd be cool if we can accomodate random scenarios you'd like to play or character development stuff, although obviously it all depends on what works with the plot, etc. • FOR EVERYONE: I'd like to keep elements of the bossfight to being a bit of a surprise before it happens. Are folks okay with that? If I just post an injury/permissions thing for the plot generally (see below) are you happy with me using that for npcing the boss fight as well even if you don't know much about it? • are there any questions I have neglected horribly oh my god I am bad at these posts I've made up a post with the threads I'm currently planning to write up and what format they'd take (party style, one thread, etc) which is HERE. If you could take a peek at that and answer these questions, that would be great. — is this too many threads? is it overwhelming? if yes, what should we look at cutting? — alternatively: are there any other threads you'd like to do that I've not provided a space for? — action or prose are always fine, I figure just go with whatever you're most comfortable with and helps you tag fastest. Some of my GMing things will be really simply laid out action responses, just to make what is happening really easy to understand (and avoid my tendency to excessive rambling sentences lbr.) As I have mentioned a few times (I'm so sorry) I'm going to be NPCing bad guys, traps and so on. Please fill in this form to make this easier and include it in your comment with your response for discussion stuff! I've added a few extra questions on top of what's usually in here :]b To be clear, although I will set up injuries, you get the final say on just how bad they are, etc. If your opt for your character to only get minor burns I might say they are in the range of a flame trap, and you can decide how that goes. If you opt for your character to get grievous burns I might say they are in the middle of the flame trap, but you still get to decide if they dodge somehow, just how bad it is, etc. |

journal wrong character important
SUPPLIES FORM
Martel's sword, shield and armor are standard-issue Inquisition gear; in addition to this, he has a silverite belt-knife with a flame enchantment as a back-up.
Offense: Big sword, punch with shield, small knife, with a small window of time he can use offensive magic (but prefers this as a desperate last ditch measure).
Defense: Big man good at sword, defensive magic an option with prep time in advance.
Anything else? Will not woo venatori.
INJURY FORM
He must be fighting fit within six months, but otherwise:
Physical pain:
Fuck him up.
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): N, I'm too lazy to photoshop his icons.
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y, anywhere else.
NOTES: I wrote this very ill.

HAHA Cosima is going in there basically naked - her original plan was "stay behind the fighters, help close the rift, go home."
Offence: She heard the shard can shoot things? (She had no idea how to do that.)
Defence: Hiding.
Anything else? Damnit, Ruby, she's a scientist, not a fighter.
INJURY FORM
Physical pain: Severe
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Magically healable - severe; not magically healbale - moderate
Burns: Moderate
Electrocution: Moderate
Abrasions: Severe
Concussions: Minor
Sprained joint: Moderate
Bone fracture: Minor
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): N
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y if not on the face
NOTES: From the questions above, I am:
- Fine with starting a few days early
- Handwave closing the first rift is fine
- Cosima probably wouldn't instigate, but would participate in an escape attempt if someone else started it
- I am good with filtered planning or not, either way
- I want to be sure Cosima solidly interacts with someone besides Ruby (and Ruby too, of course)
- Bossfight surprise is fine with me
- Oh god, I haven't had any coffee yet, help

no this is all rad :]b lmao poor Cosima JUST GOING TO LEARN HOW TO CLOSE RIFTS proceeds to have the worst time ever

2 x rapiers (they're cooler than your dumb swords or daggers Thedas)
1 x knife that flips out from a sheathe
Generic rogue armour; not Inquisition since Tevinter mission was to be kept on the DL
Necklace of the kadan, silverite mermaid bracelet
Necklace and earrings that just look really artsy but are actually lockpicks
Offence: Rapiers, small knife
Defence: Armour
Anything else? All the jewellery. Gotta be cute to fight crime. Her fox son but team two can find him.
INJURY FORM
Physical pain: Grievous
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Severe

Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y; anywhere that isn't the face or neck and that isn't on her tattoos (I can provide a link to her tattoo locations)
NOTES:
Is not a fan of healing magic; Bruce Banner knows this just toss her some booze, a needle and thread, she'll be fine, she'll be totally fine.

establishment now work is off my case;
- handwaving first rift sounds good; Araceli will be coming via Tevinter and the mission that cannot be named so Ruby just call her maybe?
- Lux will have been accompanying Araceli since Tevinter but I don't want him harmed so he can maybe help out the group trying to track them if people would like??? Just keep him out of combat that is her sON
- I know so many things about the surprise boss I'll shut up

Healing Mist grenades
Lyrium potions
Jars of Bees
Her super awesome staff
That one ring she found on a stinky giant
Her dragonhide armor
Offence: spirit blade, staff, lightning magic (and ice and fire, to a lesser degree), rift magic
Defence: She's a Knight-Enchanter, so that barrier of hers will take a lot to breach.
Anything else?
INJURY FORM
(Enter allowable severity as "None," "Minor," "Moderate," "Severe," or "Grievous")
Physical pain: Grievous
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Moderate (not magically healable: minor)
Burns: Minor
Electrocution: Minor
Abrasions: Moderate
Concussions: Severe
Sprained joint: Severe
Bone fracture: None
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): N
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y + anywhere that isn't her face or neck.
NOTES:
Moving up the posting date is fine.
Handwaving closing the second rift sounds good.
I'm fine with either RNG for pairings or player choice.
Korrin is a charge in and take the fortress by force person, did you really expect anything different.
Plotty posts for each team are fine with me.
Korrin has yet to use her Resurgence ability in a scene, so I'd love the chance for her to save some asses using it.
I'm fine with elements of the bossfight being a surprise.

SUPPLIES FORM
Jamie's broadsword and armor are standard-issue Inquistion gear (because his fancy schmancy dargon armor is still being worked on) or generic if needed for the mission, but he also has his dirk from home, and his sporran with odds and ends in it like string and a sharpening stone for the dirk and maybe a interesting rock. He also has his kilt and a plaidweave cloak, a small St. Christopher's medal and a broken watch he still insists on wearing even though it is broken.
Offence: Sword fighting (both one and two handed as need), dirk, hand-to-hand, yelling 'Creag An Tuire' at the top of his lungs and occasionally shooting projectiles out of his hand at the enemy (which can be random or fizzle, he hasn't really gotten any real training on how to reliably hit with these yet)
Defence: Sword fighting, dirk...pretty much the same thing as above. Also agile and good at dodging.
Anything else? Has been known to get conked on his head a few times over the years. Might be able to get distracted by pretty lasses.
INJURY FORM
Physical pain: Grevious
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Severe, ones that take longer to heal are ok
Burns: Moderate
Electrocution: Moderate
Abrasions: Severe
Concussions: Severe
Sprained joint: Severe
Bone fracture: Severe
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): N
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y anywhere that isn't his face or hands
NOTES: Moving up the date is fine with me, as is handwaving closing the first rift. I am completely down with going for a failed escape attempt that goes horribly wrong because he would totally try for one, so yes, let's do this thing!
Since I'm not strongly for or against separate plotty posty things and surprise boss fights I'm happy to go with whatever people want there. The threads look fine so far - dunno if you'd want to add one if for an escape attempt or just keep it under one of the other headers, though. Also this icon may turn up during this plot, just sayin'.

I think most people are either flexible or not into the separate plotting posts idea, so we'll just use this one and it'll be easy !

SUPPLIES FORM
+ 1 Vestements of the First with all upgrades
+ 1 Sylaise's Favor
+ 1 The Inner Eye
+ 1 Sylvanwood Ring
+ 1 staff; similar to the Corrupted Acolyte's Staff only a little more. wooden.
+ 1 knife
+ 1 scary war horse
+ however many potions any healers shoved at her since she can't heal her damn self
+ the above but with lyrium
+ her own blood
+ everyone else's blood
+ blood
+ :)
Offence: Elemental, Primal, Spirit, Arcane, and Entropy schools of magic, as well as her specialization, Dalish Pariah, and blood magic. Also she can hit things with her staff. Also her knife. Also maybe her horse?????
Defence: She's really cute don't hit her. No uh- she can do some barrier stuff that's in a few of those magic schools! And like freeze people in place and put them to sleep and trap them in nightmares and in their own mind and stuff, that's kind of... defensiveish...
Anything else? Get your hands off her friends :) :) :)
INJURY FORM
She has to be able to go to the Anderfeels (that was a typo but legit so I'm keeping it) soonish after but that is why healing magic exists bc I said so
Physical pain: Severe
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Severe if can be healed by magic, otherwise lower-grade.
Burns: Severe
Electrocution: Severe
Abrasions: Severe
Concussions: Moderate
Sprained joint: Severe
Bone fracture: Moderate
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): Y
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y pretty much anywhere I don't care
NOTES:
moved up posting date sounds fine
handwave rift closing sounds good
party investigating sounds good
I don't particularly care re: RNGing
Merrill wants to charge in fuck the Venatori kill them all those are her FRIENDS
separate stuff sounds like Work
I really want Merrill to gas a cloud of Venatori with horrifying entropy spells by surprise and I also want one to get so close that she can't magic or use her staff and she has to stab them and gets blood everywhere
for bossfight surprise my opinion doesn't count bc I know a bit about it so c:

NOTES:
Sabine favours stealth approaches, maybe a mixture? Sneaking into fortresses and unlocking from inside, or moving to free captives while the tanks tank? Like fortresses are innately built to defend, and this one is full of wizards, so having a two-pronged approach seems wwwise.

Her armor is mostly leather with some light plate and a heavy shoulder-guard on her left. She has two short swords that I think I said are everite, and a long sword like this one but without the fire rune shown. Unfortunately. Several daggers, one very small one hidden in a tiny sheath braided into her hair.
Offence: Highly skilled warrior, best with sword, dagger, and dual wielding two swords. Can throw a mean spear. Excellent at hand to hand, good at opponents larger than her (which is most everyone human). Can sneak.
Defence: No special resistances.
Anything else? Excellent stamina, high pain tolerance, cautious but fearless.
INJURY FORM
(Enter allowable severity as "None," "Minor," "Moderate," "Severe," or "Grievous")
Physical pain: Grievous
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Moderate if they can't be healed by magic, Severe if they can.
Burns: Moderate
Electrocution: Severe
Abrasions: Moderate
Concussions: Moderate
Sprained joint: Severe
Bone fracture: One wrist, ankle, or arm is fine but no more than that.
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): No and I'm not even going to pretend it's because I'm lazy about icons I just like her face too much and I want it to stay pretty.
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y anywhere but face and neck, multiple is fine, but giant patches of something like burn scars I'm not so keen on.
NOTES: Basically I'd rather not get her so injured that she's unable to participate at all in escape attempt and boss fight, or in ways that magic can't heal before she goes back home to her hold. Disappearing is bad enough but if she gets brought home to the Avvar massively obviously injured in some way it's going to make it harder for me to justify her coming back and personally working with the Inquisition more.

Bellamy will have his nice basic cobbled-together-from-scraps-and-corpses armor (mostly leather + a little bit of steel, equipped with some old runes to protect him from fire), his shield, his sword, one dagger, his horse, and a crossbow. nothing too special but ye olde fire runes. sorry.
Offence: SWORD AND DAGGER. he's trained with both of these and he's got combat experience, including scrappier guerrilla fighting. less good with his CROSSBOW. he's not a very good shot.
Defence: ARMOR AND SHIELD. and he can take a hit really well.
Anything else? he loves taking a Brave Stand So Others Can Escape and he's got great arms ok you want him on your side
INJURY FORM
(Enter allowable severity as "None," "Minor," "Moderate," "Severe," or "Grievous")
Physical pain: severe
Lacerations & puncture wounds: moderate & i am ok with stuff that would take longer to heal
Burns: moderate
Electrocution: moderate to severe
Abrasions: moderate to severe
Concussions: none pls
Sprained joint: moderate as long as it can be healed by magic; otherwise non
Bone fracture: moderate as long as it can be healed by magic; otherwise non
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): Y
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y + whatever, wherever
NOTES: I LOVE INJURIES, I LOVE PLOT PARTICIPATION i just have something coming up at the end of September that I promised to be part of and I want to make sure Bellamy can like. walk. for that. but I want some consequences and I am willing to be flexible ok pretty much I can work with anything. plus I have a whole bunch of bloody face icons I gotta use.
also pls make him have to save Lexa it's important
OTHER OTHER STUFF:
- fine with moving date up!
- handwaved rift closing is fine!
- party style investigation with npc clues is fine!
- RNG for team ups is fine!
- STEALTH VS CHARGE: Bellamy is kind of tankish and likes just charging in but in his heart he can appreciate the use of stealth. AND he has used stealth before to break into secure locations and extract people so he's even good at it. he might put up a tiny fight about wasitng time but in the end he will agree to stealth, probably very quickly, so put him down as a stealth vote. ok? ok. :]b

AVERY
SUPPLIES FORM
Sweet fuck-all! She is so not prepared for this. Maybe some knives and other cooking implements??
Offence: Surprisingly, she's actually a pretty damn good fighter! Just not with any formal training. She's more of a brawler than anything
Defence: lol
Anything else? Will fight dirty. Just... SO dirty. You have no idea
INJURY FORM
Pain levels I don't even care, bro, we can go wild and crazy with that, but as for the actual severity of injuries and recovery time and such for them, let's stick to moderate or below?
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): Y, if very minor
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y, wherever
NOTES:
(i just really want her to kick somebodys ass at some point and shock whoever is watching that this scruffy little lunch lady knows how to fight, okay??)
As for the questions, I am cool with earlier dates and handwaving rift closings and such, and I greatly look forward to being a possible clue, thank you. It is only my greatest desire in life.
Also, if Avery gets a say in the battle plan, she'd probably be for charging in or if possible, tricking some of THEM out. And I don't know about you guys, but you know what would definitely work on me?

Her sword, dagger and medium Grey Warden armor because it's easier to do flips + a sweet hood. She also carries around five throwing knives at any given time. Her sweet horse will be there too.
Offence: Experienced with a sword, pretty decent with throwing knives at people and can throw a mean punch. Fights to exploit weaknesses in her enemies rather than going at them with pure strength. Deadly at mounted combat.
Defence: Good at dodging! She twirls, cartwheels and flips around like an arcobat.
Anything else? Gross Grey Warden.
INJURY FORM
Physical pain: Grievous
Lacerations & puncture wounds: Moderate + okay with some taking longer to heal
Burns: Minor
Electrocution: Minor
Abrasions: Moderate
Concussions: None
Sprained joint: Moderate
Bone fracture: Moderate
Facial scarring (not disfiguring unless otherwise discussed): N
Permanent scarring (cannot be healed by magic): Y + anywhere that isn't on her face + neck
NOTES:
• Posting it earlier is cool.
• Handwaving the closing of the second rift is OK.
• Go, go RNG rangers.
• Ciri would be the sort that wanted to take the fortress by force.
• But if someone suggests stealth, she'd also be cool with it.
• Basically just catapult her into the fort.
• SURPRISE ME!!!

So there's going to be a trail, and then at some point they will reach a river and another clue. Given the nature of the Enemies and the Clue and the Location, I thought it might be an opportunity for some Warden Knowledge to be shown?
Basically the fortress they are going to is an old Tevinter outpost/mine where a bunch of darkspawn poured out during the First Blight, and it's not all that far from the Silent Plains, which iirc was a big battle site as well. Would you like Ciri to be like "so there's a Tevinter fortress upriver from here" based on Warden Learnings so they know where they are likely headed to, or would that not appeal or not work for her in terms of like... knowledge she would have? Either way is totally cool, it just seemed like An Opportunity.

ESCAPEES | closed to Cosima, Jamie & Lexa.
So the whole timeline for stuff that happens once everyone captured is relatively flexible and timey wimey, but I thought it might be helpful for you guys to have a rough idea of a possible sequence of events, since it works for this to slot a little later in the timeline, but if it doesn't work for you I can mess it around a bit.
• Each room has three guards supervising it. Your characters will overhear reference to an "incident" and that will be what pulls two guards temporarily from the room, providing a chance to break out of the shackles that they're in.
• The third guard will still be there, but he has the keys.
• One possibility would be: feigning illness or something something that gets the rookie guard to draw close enough that he can be taken out and the keys stolen
• if you wanted, one of the captives could have been held elsewhere and lockpicked their restraints, and then comes and slams the guard in the back of the head (or something) and releases their fellow captives.
• OR... or some other idea, I am open to whatever you guys like.
• The dungeons where they are being held are cold, underground, and light only comes from torches (or shards, I guess.)
• There are three different branches of passageways in the dungeons, one of which has been lost to a cave in. Your characters will need to decide whether to try and get to the others and free them, or whether to make a break for freedom and alert the Inquisition.
• They can (in theory) get free by heading up to above ground (lots of guards), or consider trying to access the underground river which would mean going deeper into the dungeons (and not know what they are facing).
• Supply room means they could try and dress up as Venatori, or at least arm themselves a little.
• My plan is for them to be recaptured, unless one of you would really love your character to escape and run into the Inquisition rescue team, and then we can work with that :]b Only one, though. >BD
• Consequences for the prisoners will be heavier lyrium dosing and more restraints for Jamie and Cosima, and being taken to an extra creepy room, for Lexa. All of them may get roughed up some in recompense for injuring the guard.
Is this enough to work with? I can give you more if you need it ;u; Basically I figured this thread would be mostly you guys, with me GMing STUFF for them to find or obstacles to deal with, and then NPCs like the original guard and others that capture them.

As discussed elsewhere, she's probably not going to be the instigator, though will not take much persuasion. Unfortunately, she would be a bad choice to escape/find team two because she will be without her glasses and unable to find much of anything unaided.

FOR TEAM TWO
They break into two teams - I am putting two separate threads in the ENTER THE FORTRESS section of the log.
The teams are (drumroll please)
STEALTH: BELLAMY, BRUCE, CIRI, SABINE
ATTACK & DISTRACT: ADELAIDE, AVERY, KORRIN, MERRILL, TEREN.
I thought I would also have the STEALTH team pick up some clues as they run through and go to let the others in. The others will be drawing the focus of guards and also cutting down their numbers.
My rough idea for stealth team involved getting in with grappling hooks, lock picking, grabbing any intel they can and then opening the entrance for the other team.
ATTACK & DISTRACT team will be simultaneously trying to make a lot of noise and cause as much carnage as possible, and then will be reunited with the other team and all charge into the dungeons together. A&D teams can also get some clues and stuff, by checking the bodies of the Venatori they cut down.
(I thought this might be a bit easier than trying to do a few investigating threads in the fortress and mean we can get into the dungeons and on the way to the shard bearers faster.)
um um discuss plotty ideas based on this if you like or cr plans or whatever :]b

SUPPLIES FORM
Standard leather armor, probably not Warden since this isn't exactly representative of them. Her two main/visible daggers are long stilettos reminiscent of needles, very mean looking. She also keeps literal needles on her person at all times, and can slip them out through a sleeve or from her boots.
Offence: She fights hella dirty, as any good rogue should. Keeping mostly out of sight and then striking at a moment's notice, she uses her whole body and isn't afraid to literally scale a person with her daggers. She's very quick and well-aimed with her knives, although much faster than she is strong.
Defence: As noted above, she's not very strong and relies on speed and/or surprise to get out of hairy situations. That and deflection are more or less her only defenses.
Anything else? Her endurance is pretty good, since she keeps herself conditioned, but she's also in her mid-forties and a Warden. Her strength won't hold up for as long as younger people's would, and she will likely take a bit longer to recover.

BOSS FIGHT BREAKDOWN.
so I had a couple of people get in touch with me with ideas and thoughts regarding the boss fight, and I’ve decided to tweak it for a slightly different approach. Hopefully tweaking this will mean that things are less confusing and the narrative isn’t following several different concerns (the Wolf, the Golem, Maris) all in one place, and allow people to feel that their character can do more and not feel too lost.
I’m dividing it into three subcomments, which I will link to in the next GM comment.
MARIS: Bellamy and Lexa are going to try and make an attack on him which will go slightly pear-shaped, and then will be joined by Jamie and Sabine. This four will defeat and kill Maris. I’d like to keep this section of the fight limited to non-mages, just to give the badass normals a chance to shine.
THE WOLF: Is going to try and attack Ciri and then take some silverite to her side, courtesy of Ciri being stabby stabby. Adelaide will throw the cloak on her, and she will be Ruby again. (Andy, I thought this might be where you’d like Avery to be, and Mhairi we had discussed the Wolf hurting Araceli and her dealing damage to the wolf to, so maybe this winds up being Ciri, Adelaide, Avery and Araceli if that works for you both?)
GOLEM & CRANKY PLANTS: Merrill, Bruce, Korrin, for MAXIMUM MAGE DESTRUCTION and Teren for queen of stabbing and carnage. I figure when those on TEAM WOLF have fixed Ruby they’ll come help here.
Adelaide will also pop in and out of threads to throw buffs on people, because that’s how she do.
And then outside the room Daenerys is casually saving them from another wave of gladiators; thanks Dany.
To the best of my knowledge that just leaves Martel and Cosima, who iirc are very injured and having a nap in the dungeon. (Merrill and Sabine were watching them, but then the golem happened and they came to see what was happening.)
Let me know your thoughts! I’m getting to work on writing the separate threads now :]b
If you have a special request for an injury/set up you would like for your character please let me know because I'd like to work as much stuff in as I can for people.
HASTING THE COOK
Also i am still totally on board for Adelaide getting cut up along the back and face scarred.
