MOD POST ↠ PLOT ASSIGNMENTS
ASSIGNMENTS: FALSE GODS, PT II
For the second leg of the Future AU plot, we’re going to experiment with another method of plot delivery: individual assignments. Assignments are similar to our War Table Operations, but rather than assembling a group, we’ll assign an objective to a single character. Here’s how it will work.
FIRST, you sign up below if you’re interested in an assignment. The deadline is 11:59 PM EST on February 20. For sanity’s sake, we’re currently capping this at five participants. (Those five participants will be able to involve additional characters if they choose! Keep reading.) We’ll RNG if necessary. We’ll also prioritize Future AU characters who did not participate in the Kirkwall escape. We’ll only give assignments to the TTT or Kirkwall escapees if we have leftovers.
SECOND, we match our list of objectives — events or intelligence that would contribute toward the plot — to the list of characters, tailoring the method of accomplishing a given objective to the character's skills. We give you a very brief description of what your character needs to do. Assignments will be screened, so you’ll be the only one who knows what’s up and will be able to surprise other players if you want.
For example, if for important plot purposes we need the Inquisition to know that the Nug King exists, and your character is an expert at digging holes, we may assign that character to dig a latrine that inadvertently opens up a tunnel to the Nug King’s lair. On the other hand, if your character speaks Nug, we may ask them to trace his location based on rumors from local Nug Gossips.
Depending on the assignment, there may be some other requirements. We might specify that your character isn’t allowed to fail at the assignment because it will derail the whole plot if they do, or that the information your character acquires is required to be reported to the advisors or made public knowledge.
THIRD, your character does the thing. Except in special circumstances, these will be IC orders — someone higher than them in the chain of command (or whoever is paying them, if they’re freelancers/allies rather than Inquisition members) will have given them the assignment directly. It will be their IC responsibility to get it done, either alone or with a team they put together. You can (1) put up an OOC post to invite people to sign up to assist your character; (2) invite other characters to assist individually based on their skill sets or relationships; or, (3) have your character complete the task alone or with NPCs and instead focus on RPing the aftermath.
To return to our Nug King example, if Bob is assigned to find the Nug King, Bob's player can treat it like a full player plot with sign-ups if Bob's player would like. Or Bob can just bring his friend Charlie. Or Bob can go alone and his player can skip RPing the actual discovery of the Nug King altogether, focusing instead on reporting breathlessly to the crystal network that he has found the Nug King or his triumphant return home with the Nug King in a cage.
FOURTH, you come back within one month of the date the assignment is received and provide a link to at least one AC-length proof that the assignment was RPed about, in some capacity, with at least one other player’s participation, and that it fulfilled any OOC requirements we gave you. (E.g., if we said information had to be reported to the advisors, we’ll need to see that report on the advisors’ report page, which we will link you to if that’s a requirement.)
Barring an OOC emergency, failing to follow through on an assignment will mean being last priority in mod plot sign-ups for two months.
Again, this is an experiment, so if it sounds like the worst plan you’ve ever heard of, have no fear! We won’t continue doing plot this way if it doesn’t work. And if it does work, it will be mixed in with our usual open plot logs and more traditional team-based mod plots.

SIGN-UPS
The deadline is 11:59 PM EST on February 20.
SIGN-UPS
SKILLS: Smashing stuff, punching Venatori, setting things on fire, being very angry etc. etc.
KILLABLE?: N for now
PLOT PREFERENCES: Something that can be done as a (small) team would be preferred, since Bruce has his team. Otherwise something smaller is totally cool too.
NOTES: boop boop boop
no subject
SKILLS: Analysis (codes, crime scenes, etc.), consultation, magical theory
KILLABLE?: Not at this time, thank you.
PLOT PREFERENCES: Definite preference for something that could be done in a small group, also happy to include a travel element, willing to engage with combat sequences but would rather not have that be the primary element.
NOTES: Currently based in Ortan, if such information is important for determining assignments
no subject
SKILLS: Being a sneak. Picking locks. Placing/dismantling traps. Insert a joke about Rogue One here. Getting her motherfucking stab on. Ssssstealing things tbh.
KILLABLE?: Y
PLOT PREFERENCES: I'm super easy. Brainy mental things are not her strongsuit. Alone or a group is fine, though the potential for a group might be nice for AC and CR. Come at me bro.
NOTES: She can mmmmostly read and chickenscratch in common, but not super well, in case missives or letters or such are involved.
no subject
SKILLS: Bard skills, duelling, general stealth, lockpicking, parkour
KILLABLE?: N
PLOT PREFERENCES: Would prefer minimal combat for her given stunning lack of a hand and I'm happy with running something like a player plot or a small player plot depending on whatever it is but I can make it work
NOTES: Currently in possession of a ship
CHARACTER: Yngvi
SKILLS: Trapmaking, gathering intel, lying through his teeth, fighting and fighting dirty
KILLABLE?: It would depend?
PLOT PREFERENCES: Good with combat for him, also fine with whatever sort of plot since I know Yngvi is Yngvi and not everyone's cup of tea for having to deal with
NOTES: He is rich in nugs, no you may not eat them
no subject
SKILLS: Healing, setting things on fire, bickering, herblore, lockpicking, winning over cats, blowing things up.
KILLABLE?: Yes
PLOT PREFERENCES: I'm not great at combat scenes and would lean toward player plot-able things, but I'm pretty easy.
NOTES: Can't think of anything!
Re: SIGN-UPS
SKILLS: fixing things, moving things with her mind, Jedi mind-tricks, stabbing things with her cool laser sword, some mild diplomacy maybe but it's not her strength.
KILLABLE?: N
PLOT PREFERENCES: I enjoy combat scenes, and I don't mind running something bigger but I'd also be ok with doing a small mission.
NOTES: ~~~~~~~~~~~~/o/
CHARACTER: Geneviève
SKILLS: Chevalier stuff, sneaking around, stabbing things, fighty fights
KILLABLE?: Y
PLOT PREFERENCES: same as above
NOTES: Anything else, IC or OOC.
no subject
SKILLS: Combat, horsemanship, battle tactics, leadership, has some Spirit powers as listed on his app (turning invisible, strong, illusion army, etc.)
KILLABLE?: No. I'd rather he live.
PLOT PREFERENCES: Very flexible with this. Can work with whatever you happen to throw my way.
NOTES: Well he is a Rifter and a Spirit so I don't know if that will matter for his stuff but there you go!
Re: SIGN-UPS
SKILLS: What’s your character good at? Talking people into things, sneaking around, knowing every single language in Thedas, super-well read, pretty decent with a crossbow.
KILLABLE?: N.
PLOT PREFERENCES: I have no problems with combat scenes but Tyrion's sort of a lousy fighter SO I'd prefer a puzzle or diplomacy stuff or finding stuff plot please?
NOTES: FIRE AND BLOOD.
Re: SIGN-UPS
SKILLS: What’s your character good at? sewing, spying on people, persuasion, music (harp, song), riding
KILLABLE?: N
PLOT PREFERENCES: Sansa isn't particularly suited to combat (though she'd like to learn!) so I would prefer some sort of diplomacy or puzzle type mission.
NOTES: WINTER IS COMING
