Who They Are: Sellsword, ex-chevalier squire, runaway thief and professional weirdy beardy gofor. One time he fought on the losing side of a civil war and it was awkward.
Where They've Been: The Free Marches and along any major trade routes that doesn't lead directly into Orlais (spoilers: most mercenary work involves guarding wagons and crates). His return to his homeland for the War of the Lions was the first time he'd been back in a decade, though once upon a time he spent his a majority of his life faffing about Orlais on the heels of an eccentric chevalier.
What They Want: Reliable room and board. Marcoulf thrives on work that's consistently inconsistent and Not Being In Charge. His last work was erased by the Inquisition, so consider this the pettiest form of getting even. If he manages to endear himself to someone important along the way, all the better.
Plot & CR Desires: Very much here to be your errand running beard and that awkward person who believes in the status quo even when it's been objectively harmful to them. Mostly I'm looking for him to be adjacent to Action, Intrigue, and Shennanigans (oh my) - he's a a scraggly blunt instrument and it'd be rad to have characters who want someone reliable to get something done utilize that. Long term, I'd be interested in having him form his own opinions that aren't primarily dictated by the most important person in the room but ???.

I have a large collection of jerks who are mostly ocs: Herian (loyalist knight enchanter from the starkhaven alienage), Marisol (rebel mage merchant princess smuggler type), Alex (a rifter veterinarian who is obnoxious 90% of the time), and then a couple side characters, including an Avvar weaponsmith and a hideous Orlesian patent medicine dude. AND another rifter, except a canon character, who is Helena from Orphan Black.

That would be cool! She largely travelled as muscle for a particular group of traders, but I think definitely he could have been hired with them as extra back up. • Kostos the Nevarran mage who figured out people thought he was a weird spooky asshole and mostly just leaned into it. He's currently a project head (Northern Powers) so he can probably boss Marcoulf around a bit.

• Silas who is from Perendale, so if you ask him he's Orlesian but if you ask Nevarra he's Nevarran, and also possibly the only Templar in the game who is not and would not consider banging a mage, which makes him in his opinion the only sensible one here.
• Tomek the dwarf accountant from Markham who is not as good at anything as he thinks he is.
