smol plot: crash dummies.
As per this network post, Tony is looking for volunteers to field test some items he's been working on after a lot of back and forth with dwarven crafters: some enchanted, some not, some in between. How this works is you will be given the item, and you may incorporate this into whatever RP you like (or leave it collecting dust in your room, if you really want), and around mid-October, Tony will come to collect it.
By signing up, you're agreeing to take ownership of but ultimately give back an item! Some of these will be buyable with AC points, some of these will just be limited use and owned by Riftwatch, but they're free for use within the confines of the plot.
Tony will report on this himself, so all you have to do is read the blurb I give you and then expect to have an answer when you're asked how it was. The sign up form below also has an option for something going wrong, in which event I will be rolling a d10 to see how bad. (If everyone picks this option, I'll probably RNG to limit the rate of failure.)
No one will actually die. Unless you really want to.

When the breastplate is struck, all kinetic force directed into the metal is repelled back at the attacker rather than absorbed, so in theory, a direct war hammer strike against the plate won't stagger Barrow, but may knock the attacker off his feet instead. A similar effect occurs with magic, if less precisely, where the magic will be repelled in whatever way makes sense according to physics or simply disperse.
The enchantment has its limits, and will need to be re-charged after a while.
I rolled a 2 on your oops potential. The breastplate will seem to be doing its job pretty well, but at one point, after a strike, it will begin to overheat uncomfortably, to the point that the metal will be dangerous to touch, and it may take Barrow a few frantic moments to take it off. After several minutes, it will cool back down, but this affect will repeat if it's tested again.
As a reminder, Barrow won't be able to keep this item beyond around late October to mid November, as it will require AC points to purchase (but that will be an option if you're keen!). At that stage, Tony will come check in around how field testing is going, if Barrow doesn't approach first.
