PLAYER PLOT(s): MOVERS AND SHAKERS

WHAT: A series of mixed-division/mixed-project, more or less official Riftwatch business assignments dealing with some of the mage-templar-chantry politics in the aftermath of the kiboshed Conclave attempt.

These are odd-job style assignments that are meant to be done by a small number of characters (2-3), or styled as mingle logs for ease of play.

HOW: You'll be provided with a brief overview of the goals/stakes/potential complications of each mission, but will otherwise be expected to set up their logs/conduct the missions as you see fit. If presented with a choice of A path or B path, the selection won't affect the success of the mission itself, but it may weigh the scales for Conclave Pt.2 so make your decisions wisely.

WHO: All y'all. Each mission has preferred character types noted, but I'm really just using these suggestions as flavor guidelines so a) don't feel tied down by them, and b) please don't hold the respective divheads/project leads personally responsible for any of my half baked hijinks.

WHEN: OOC sign-ups close EOD Saturday, Oct 1st. Groups will be finalized and additional details distributed in the next 48-ish hours. This sign-up period is purposefully short to make sure all business is settled before Conclave Pt.2. ICly, you're welcome to date these however is convenient or interesting so long as it occurs pre-Conclave Pt.2 (whenever that happens), so don't be worried about this overlapping with any IC obligations/feel free to sign up for multiples if you have the time and interest.

Reports for these mini-plots will be due by October 31st. Don't make me hunt you down. [knife emoji]

WHAT: Charles Tinel, author of a schlocky series of sexy Mage/Templarsploitation erotic novels, has been dumped by his publisher. Hook him up with a new benefactor so his semenal, I mean seminal, work can be read far and wide.

FLAVOR: Self-directed adventure. You'll be provided characters sketches of Tinel and some potential publishers, but otherwise you'll be free to devise your own series of hijinks.

WHO: 2 player characters, with preference for members of diplomacy, forces, or Project Jeshavis.

Charles Tinel is the pen name of an unassuming bookkeeper of the Hercinia harbormasters. In exchange for offering to act as the eyes and ears of Riftwatch when it comes to news of the pirates out of Estwatch (and anything else anyone might need to know about trade through the straits), he's requested that Riftwatch help him find a publisher for his newest novel. The good news: he has a small stockpile of the books already printed, which may sweeten the deal for any prospective publisher as well as accelerate getting those books on shelves. The bad news: he may have committed some embezzlement in order to personally cover the gap left behind between his previous publisher and printer. It's probably fine.

It's up to Bastien and Edgard to make sure that the world finally gives Charles Tinel's work the credit it deserves. A few possible publishers who might be willing to distribute his newest novel include:

Miles Varley - A gregarious merchant whose passions in life are a good bargain, and cutting corners, and his dwarven wife Karin. While not strictly a publisher, he's a well connected jack of all trades type who could sell fish to a fisherman. Unfortunately, he might also be the type of person who would be willing to pulp a bunch of books to remake the paper and take advantage of how valuable paper is with Tantervale turned to slag. Something would need to be done to get Varley invested in Tinel's work.

Madame Cordier - Something of a powerhouse in the industry, Madame Cordier is actually a consortium of four bickering siblings who have inherited their mother's printing empire after she kicked the bucket and are now in the middle of a power struggle to determine the direction for the continuation of their mother's legacy.

Sister Isabeau Rommel - A devout member of the clergy, Sister Isabeau oversees the publication and distribution of a considerable collection of papers and religious treatises. In order to help fund this endeavor, she also secretly deals in romances, gossip, and other harmless perversions. That said, Sister Isabeau is likely to balk at the content of Tinel's work. Landing her representation might require getting rid of some more palatable competition…

Hey friends! I'm going to pull together a bulk report for some of these assignments in an effort to keep the wiki up to speed and my ducks in a row in case I'm moved to do any follow up assignments that involve this.

With some snooping, it looks like Bastien and Edgard we're going to recruit Madame Cordier for their publishing hijinks. Let me know whether it's safe to assume that they were successful, if you have any other notes or relevant links you want to add, and if you have any preferences where I spent the report point once mod hiatus is over.
