The CR meme is live over here. This month we've included two top-level comments--one for new players and characters, and one for non-CR-based plot feelers (e.g., "I want to investigate this; who wants to help?"). Go make friends! Or enemies.

Poll: Emprise du Lion vs. The Western Approach

As a reminder, we'll have an open Skyhold mingle log for First Day. This log will be posted after Christmas but forward-dated to Wintermarch/January 1. In January, we'll shift to a new regional focus: Emprise du Lion or the Western Approach.

Emprise du Lion is currently the site of a red lyrium mining operation, a collection of giants, and potentially a notorious, dangerous demon. The source of red lyrium is extensive, but the mines are not yet heavily fortified. Local villagers are being kidnapped for an unknown purpose, and many are dying. The area also contains a number of elven ruins and one abandoned Grey Warden outpost. The region is closer to Skyhold and will be less taxing on the Inquisition's resources. Addressing these problems first may prevent additional civilian deaths and limit Corypheus' supply of red lyrium.

The Western Approach is currently host to both a group of Venatori who are doing something shady and the bulk of the Southern Grey Wardens, who are also doing something shady. The landscape is inhospitable and populated with aggressive wildlife. The region is in Western Orlais, and the Inquisition will not be able to transport troops and supplies across the country as quickly or in such great numbers as it can to Emprise du Lion. Addressing these problems first may prevent the Venatori from succeeding at whatever shady thing they're trying to do and prevent Alistair from having a temper tantrum limit losses among the Grey Wardens.

Please respond to the poll once. Use the first question to indicate which region you, as a player, would prefer we visit next; these answers will decide where we go. Use the second question to tell us what your characters would prefer and what their priorities/interests are; these answers will shape how we describe the Inquisition's IC decision to choose one region over the other. We'll also use it to add quests or other plot opportunities to our top secret quest lists if we've overlooked something that would be of interest to your characters.

Though we're making the actual decision through the OOC poll, ICly the Inquisition's leadership will be considering the matter among themselves and making a decision without polling the rank and file. However, we encourage IC discussion on the subject to help flesh out opinions and the general mood of the Inquisition, since there are good reasons to prioritize each location. All characters would be aware that this question is being decided and would be able to get a sense of the general pros and cons of each option as described above, as reports from the scouts in each area have not been kept secret.

A note for characters on the two scouting teams: Your plot information stated that the scout team in the chosen region would be asked to remain there until the Inquisition's forces joined them. Based on some feedback, we're making that optional. Scouts are welcome to remain if players prefer, and those who do can assume they've been given new tasks in preparation for the Inquisition's arrival. But they are also welcome to return to Skyhold for the First Day celebration. The Inquisition will send NPC relief forces in the meantime.

List Mods

We're pleased to announce KB and Zelda will be joining the mod team as list mods! They're two very cool people who are even cooler for having volunteered. Please join us in being super grateful that they're willing to donate their time and skills to helping the game run smoothly. We'd also like to announce that MJ is now (officially, she kind of always has been) a co-mod with Cass, rather than assistant mod, even though we were really entertained by our head mod/foot mod joke. RIP, joke.
