QUEST SIGN-UPS
The Inquisition's next major step is to address the Warden problem. Because we're an AU game and we like trouble, the Wardens have abandoned Adamant Fortress, leaving behind evidence of an unsettling number of deaths, and moved further north. Handling them will require destroying a massive demon known as the Nightmare and making a friendly visit to Weisshaupt Fortress.
Since we're hoping to include some surprises for players, this post is a little light on details! We tried to include enough information to help everyone know what they want to sign up for and begin planning ahead, but let us know if you have any pressing questions. More information will be delivered through IC means before and during the quests.
Sign-ups for the two closed quests will close on May 15 at 11:59 PM EDT. The Fade will be open—no sign-ups required!
The Western Approach
Beginning on 15 Bloomingtide, the Inquisition will station a force in the Western Approach, a desert in Western Orlais still scarred by the Blight, to address the region's "minor" problems—bandits, Venatori, rifts, darkspawn, the worst wildlife ever—while sorting through the bloody mess at Adamant Fortress. There will be an open post for anyone who wants to RP in that setting, and one closed log for dealing with the local high dragon.
CLOSED QUEST: DRAGON!
The Abyssal High Dragon, like all high dragons, is a dangerous menace and needs to be killed so it doesn't eat everyone in their sleep.
HOW: We'll give the group a set-up and information on the dragon's tactics and behaviors, then set you loose. If there's disagreement over who gets to deliver the killing blow (or anything else), we're happy to roll for it for you.
WHO: One team of five, with preference given to players who haven't done a dragon yet.
WHEN: 20 Bloomingtide.
The Fade
Relying on rifters and other characters with anchors, the Inquisition will attempt to draw the Nightmare out of the Fade to be destroyed. In the process, characters in the vicinity of the battle will wind up stuck in the Fade. They'll need to find a way back out.
This will be an OPEN PLOT (no sign-ups required) that will allow participating characters (who can be anyone, because you don't have to sign up) to confront a variety of creepy beings and set pieces over the course of several days, from 28-30 Bloomingtide, without having to sign up first. The log will go up in advance and be forward-dated. You don't have to sign up.
We will provide starters and may occasionally cut into ongoing threads with GM tags to add extra creepiness, but for the most part players (who don't have to sign up) will NPC their own demons. The only limits to participation are: (1) your character will need to be present for the fight against the Nightmare and (2) your character cannot also participate in the Anderfels plot, detailed below. One thing that is not a limit to participation is: signing up. You don't have to do it.
The Anderfels
While everyone else is dealing with the Nightmare, a smaller group will head to the Anderfels, hoping that once the demon is destroyed the remaining Wardens will see reason. There will be an open post set in a village a half-day's walk from Weisshaupt Fortress, where characters who are not chosen for the closed portion of this plot can wait to serve as back-up.
CLOSED QUEST: WEISSHAUPT
On 29 Bloomingtide, a small group will enter Weisshaupt Fortress to negotiate with and investigate the Wardens. It will not go well.
HOW: Some open setting/exploration opportunities, but the main thrust of the quest will be GMed and involve NPCs. You can expect both talking/negotiation and some minor combat.
WHO: Three teams of four, with no more than half of those slots given to Warden characters.
WHEN: 28-30 Bloomingtide. The log will go up in advance and be forward-dated.
WARNING/SPOILERS: If it's not fun for you to go into a log knowing your character can't save everyone, skip this!
