JUNE (JUSTINIAN)
ORGANIZATIONAL/OOC UPDATES
OOC Calendar
Check the calendar for additional dates, but here are the upcoming important ones:
After this month, we will begin posting the TDM on a bimonthly basis and promoting the old meme on off months.
Application Updates
Most of the character/app caps from June will remain in place for the next application round in July, except the caps on mages and Grey Wardens.
For mages, we will allow players to have up to two mages if one of these mages is a traditional Circle mage. To clearly define that line, that means characters who were surrendered to a Circle immediately upon development of magical ability in childhood and remained part of the Circle, with no successful escape attempts, until the Circles dissolved in 9:40. The point of this is to balance our apostate population, but these Circle mages are not required to be fans of Circles—they can be either loyalists or rebels who fought under Fiona. We may need to cap mages again if there's a significant population boom.
We will allow additional Grey Warden characters beginning in July, although we may also cap them again if their numbers swell too much. New Grey Warden characters that are not canon companions must be Fereldan or Orlesian Wardens who have gone through the events in the Weisshaupt plot. Once that plot has been wrapped up, we'll make sure a summary of that plot and the Southern Wardens' current status is available for potential applicants.
In summary:
All of our caps and limits are intended to promote balance in PC perspectives and prevent characteristics that should be uncommon from becoming so prevalent that the social dynamics that make those characters enjoyable to play are lost. We'll continue to revisit them each app round and revise them based on the game's overall demographics.
PLOT/IC UPDATES
Upcoming Plot Developments
Backtagging continues! The Inquisition's efforts in the Western Approach will continue through this month, and Griffon Wing Keep will be occupied indefinitely, so characters can stay in the region as long as you'd like. They're also welcome to head back to Skyhold. The Weisshaupt plot is still in progress and we don't want to spoil the participants for details. However, it is safe for everyone and their pet ram to know that the king of the Anderfels was deposed on Bloomingtide 30 and the Grey Wardens have taken control of the government there.
The Rifter Arrival Log will be posted as soon as applications have been fully processed and will be open to any characters who volunteer to go recover the new arrivals.
Moving forward, we plan to continue to have major mod plot developments and new regions opening up every other month. That means new regions/mod plots will likely cover mid-to-late July, September, and November of this year. This is primarily because the game has turned out to be very player-plot heavy--which we love!--and we want to make sure there is space for players to explore their interests without being overwhelmed by simultaneous gamewide plot developments. If you're planning player plots, you can safely bet on June, August, and October being clear of major mod plot conflicts. If that schedule shifts, we'll announce it ASAP.
On that note, please make sure to place your player plots on the calendar as soon as they are approved so other players can plan around them as needed.
Notes on Player Plots
We love player plots! Please don't be shy about proposing them. We strongly encourage anyone who has something they want to explore to consider ways to do so through player plots--there's no way for us to cover everyone's interests via mod plots or provide everyone with the moments of heroic bad-assery they deserve, so we try to give players who propose their own plots as much freedom and support as possible.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to invent plots from scratch. You can create fires (literal or metaphorical) for your character to go put out, pull in unexplored elements from the canon lore, and invent your own minor groups, bosses/villains, and locations as required. The main thing to keep in mind when proposing player plots is that, in order to use Inquisition resources, a plot will need to advance Inquisition interests in some way--peacekeeping, closing rifts in a region, making money or uncovering valuable artifacts that can be turned into money or goodwill, etc. But it's fine to have your characters go somewhere thinking they're going to do one thing, like close a rift, and have them get pulled into some other disaster while they're there.
If you would like to run player plots based on existing quests or war table operations from Dragon Age: Inquisition, that's also great. For fairness' sake, we'll require players who use canon plots as their own to offer sign-ups for participation on the OOC comm.
Canon quests that are off-limits for player plots are the major plotline quests from Inquisition (Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, What Pride Had Wrought), companion-specific plots (unless you play that companion), and any quests that take place in regions that the Inquisition has not yet explored/occupied (the Exalted Plains, the Emerald Graves, Crestwood, the Storm Coast, and the Hissing Wastes). Quests in the Hinterlands, Fallow Mire, Emprise du Lion, and the Western Approach that were not covered by mod plots are open for the taking, and characters can always revisit these regions at any time--the Inquisition is maintaining a presence in each of them.
If you only have a vague idea for a plot or something you'd like to accomplish for your character but are not sure how to go about it, let us know and we'll do our best to offer some guidance, but "player" plot means the bulk of the work will need to be yours. If you have a vague idea that you don't want to run yourself, we'd love to hear it, but that means we'll potentially take the idea and open it up to everyone, rather than creating a plot specifically for you and your character.
Miscellaneous
We have a page for IC news and gossip! We highly recommend tracking this page (or only the sub-topics you need to know about) and even more highly recommend posting to it if your character is involved in something that the grapevine would be aware of.
We've created a spreadsheet for Character Residences, now linked from the Skyhold page. This is to help everyone keep track of who is living where and who may be in their vicinity. You can add your own characters to this document, and we'll clean it up as needed.
Thank you to everyone who applied for IC authority positions; we'll be announcing those shortly. In the meantime, we'd like to remind everyone--especially new players!--to take a look at the Inquisition Organization Chart and know where your characters fit.
