IC & PLOT UPDATES
Upcoming Mod Plot
First, a note: because we're behind, we're shifting our timeline back so that the capstone event for this cycle will take place in early April rather than late March. We're sorry! We'll try to catch up a bit next cycle if we can. War table assignments will be posted on approximately February 18 (depending how quickly we can finalize and approve them), with sign-ups open for three to five days so everyone can dig into them ASAP.
This cycle's mod plot will be centered around the eluvian network, which both the Inquisition/Riftwatch and the Venatori have made limited use of in the past. Our OOC goal moving forward is to make it possible to access far-flung areas more easily to allow more targeted missions to be conducted behind enemy lines without always having to justify long travel times through dangerous occupied territory.
We'll be providing a bit more info to some relevant IC Leaders to help set up the Big Event in early April, but in general we encourage Division Heads and Project Leaders to consider making use of the eluvian network in some way in their War Table Assignments, whether that's simply using them as a means of travel, focusing on exploring their access to a particular location, dealing with Venatori access to the network in some way, etc. Players are also entirely welcome to utilize it in player plot requests.
Assignment Submissions
Speaking of War Table Assignments, they should be submitted (using the appropriate section/form on the Plot Request page by February 16. Each project must submit at least one, and each division at least two. (If you have more you want to write up and aren't sure which is best/makes the most sense right now, that's cool! You can send us more and we'll help you decide.)
We encourage IC Leaders to use the discord channels available to them to discuss and brainstorm potential assignment concepts. Assignments that are a collaboration between multiple projects or divisions are allowed, and may count for both if they're sufficiently combining the skills/addressing the goals of each division/project (e.g., a mission that involves gathering specific intelligence and using it to attack an armed target could count for both Scouting and Forces, but a mission that is just to attack a target and Scouts who are good at fighting can also go along would just be Forces).
If you're not sure what your division/project's goals are, we'd encourage you to revisit relevant wiki pages, which provide overviews of each area of responsibility and their specific current priorities. IC Leaders are of course welcome to adjust those priorities if they choose--they should represent the IC priorities of the characters running the division/project--and we likewise encourage IC discussions among leaders about how best to prioritize.
The Anderfels & Antiva
We've added some information about the Anderfels and Antiva to the wiki to assist people with plotting!
For Antiva, which has remained largely politically neutral during the war, we've added a list of Merchant Princes (and one Princess) and some little tidbits of information to explain their current positions and personalities. We tried not to over-define them and to leave them flexible enough them to be fit into player plot desires, instead of demanding particular types of responses, while still providing some prompts and guidance as to the realistic state of affairs there. Please feel free to use convincing one of the Princes to assist with the war (or protecting one who already is, or whatever else) as a goal for player plots and war table assignments.
For the Anderfels, we've updated the page with information about the current status of the country to help people who want to take some action there know where to start. As with the Merchant Princes, we're aiming to provide some starting points without necessarily setting up anything to require a single specific plot to address it.
We're planning to provide similar additional information about other countries as we're able to make time to do so. In the meantime, if you have questions about anything or need information we haven't provided about these countries or other areas to help you plot, you can always drop us an info request.
IC Leadership Changes
We have no new appointments to announce! If you're interested in an IC leadership role, the list of positions is here and you can submit an application here.
We're tweaking the way that Projects work to provide a bit more focus and structure for projects and Project Leader players. From now on, there will be one assistant project leader slot per project, rather than two. And rather than continuing to float nebulously in the ether sort-of-reporting to all four Division Heads and sort of vaguely doing their own thing, each project will be slotted back into the hierarchy and each Project Leader will now report directly to a specific Division Head ICly.
We've tried to assign them more or less thematically, in order to encourage IC collaboration between Division Heads and Project Leaders, but as always, all projects are open to all PC members of Riftwatch, regardless of Division.
