OOC Calendar
Check the calendar for additional dates, but here are the upcoming important OOC dates:
After this month, we will be posting the CR Meme on a bimonthly basis, alternating with the Test Drive Meme. We’ll also change the intro post so it can be used more like a CR meme, geared specifically toward acclimating new characters, and begin including a place for players to post plot feelers/wanted ads on our monthly update posts.
Mod Changes
We’re pleased to announce that we’re bringing on BELLA as a co-mod, beginning right now. She’s rad in general and extra rad for agreeing to help. Please throw flowers at her feet when she passes and refer to her as Your Elegant Modness or Your Perfection.
But, on that note, please also remember to only use the methods provided on the Mod Contact page to ask any of us questions in our capacity as mods. Doing so makes it easier for us to keep good records, stay consistent, and not go mad from feeling like we’re on-call 24/7. We do not want Bella to go mad. We like her.
FAQ & Rule Changes
We’ve updated the FAQ and Rules pages! No significant changes were made to any existing rules or information, but we consolidated a lot of information about Anchors and Specializations that had previously been distributed to players piecemeal. We also changed our activity requirements so that open posts count as an AC proof on their own, rather than requiring a tag elsewhere in addition to the post.
Application Caps
Beginning with this application cycle, we’re lifting our cap on characters with Tevinter origins. This comes with several caveats for characters whose backgrounds include slavery or magical experimentation; please see the Rules page for more information.
All other caps and per-player limits remain in place.
PLOT/IC UPDATES
Upcoming Plot Developments
There will be no new modplot this month. The Inquisition’s efforts remain focused on Halamshiral and resolving the political conflict there and stabilizing the region, and the final portion of the War of the Lions arc will take place in November. We will also be posting an open Satinalia Party & Event in late October, forward-dated to Firstfall 1. December will be another modplot-free month, and we’ll take up a new arc in early 2017. (Holy shit, 2017.)
The Rifter Arrival Log will be posted as soon as applications have been fully processed and will be open to any characters who volunteer to go recover the new arrivals.
In the meantime, we have a lot of upcoming player plots. Make sure you watch the OOC comm for plot sign-up posts! And remember that while the Inquisition’s central base of operations is Skyhold, the organization has an active presence the Hinterlands and is occupying fortresses in Emprise du Lion, the Western Approach, and the Fallow Mire. Characters may be sent to any of those locations for basic assignments, deliveries, scouting or guard duty, etc. So if you’re looking for somewhere to set a log other than Skyhold or Halamshiral, you have options--cold options, hot options, wet options, you name it.
Player Plot Reminders
Make sure to place your player plots on the calendar as soon as they are approved so other players can plan around them as needed.
Try to submit plot requests at least a month in advance of the date you want them to make sure there's sufficient time for the review process. We're often juggling quite a few plot requests at once, which is awesome!! but means that you may be in line behind several other people, and we may also need to ask you some questions or request some changes before you're approved. Getting things in early helps prevent that process from cutting into the time you want for sign-ups or plotting. (But not too early; we can really only plan a few months in advance with any certainty, and we can’t promise you now that a location you may want to use for a player plot in six months won't be a flaming crater by then.)
Also, please remember to submit a report after your player plot is completed! They help everyone keep track of what's been going on and help us make sure player plots have impact on the bigger picture. These are now required in order to claim AC reward points for running the plot.
Miscellaneous
We have a page for IC news and gossip! We highly recommend tracking this page (or only the comments for the sub-topics you need to know about) and even more highly recommend posting to it if your character is involved in something that the grapevine would be aware of.
There's also the Wanted page, which is currently taking the place of ATP and also allows players to offer up NPCs they've created from their character's background or from around Skyhold for others to app.
We've created a spreadsheet for Character Residences, now linked from the Skyhold page. This is to help everyone keep track of who is living where and who may be in their vicinity. You can add your own characters to this document, and we'll clean it up as needed. Please note that space within Skyhold is very limited, as described in the note at the top of the sheet.
