Cole

With the arrival of the Inquisition in Kirkwall en masse, Cole is devoting himself wholesale to trying to help every single person who needs his help.

A lot of those people in need are Inquisition members. If your muse is struggling, suffering or otherwise need in help, leave details here and I'll give you a starter on the post when it open on Friday (Australia time).

This is a good excuse to highlight the difficulties and pain your muses are currently going through and a sympathetic ear to listen (and maybe help).

ORGANIZATIONAL/OOC UPDATES

OOC Calendar

We have a calendar for 2017/9:43 here. Please refer to it for our OOC and IC schedules, and make sure to add any player plots or major events you organize to it as well!

List Modding

KB has done an awesome and often thankless job for the last year as our listmod, but real life has reared its head lately, and we could really use an additional set of hands to help us keep on top of things. The job includes updating the Taken and Contact lists with new characters, processing AC, and the occasional other small odd or end. That's it! It's not a hugely complicated job, but having to handle it ourselves can really cut into our already-limited availability, which we'd rather spend creating plot and (occasionally, if possible) RPing with all of you. If you're comfortable with basic coding and would be willing to help out, please let us know in the Mod Contact!

Application Cap & Cycle Changes

As we explained last month, we're making changes to our Application Rules effective immediately. First, we're raising our per-player character cap to four. As with third characters, players must have passed AC with their existing characters during the most recent month in order to app a fourth. Our other limits remain in place. You may not app third and fourth characters in the same month.

Second, from now on we'll be handling native and rifter applications separately. Applications for native characters (OCs, Dragon Age canon characters, and AU'd characters from other canons) are open and will remain open indefinitely. We'll process applications on a rolling basis and respond to them as quickly as possible. Reserves for Dragon Age canon characters and AU characters from other canons will last one week before expiring.

Since rifters require an arrival event and we've had a low volume of rifter apps, rifter applications will continue to only be open during a specific app window, and we'll be opening them only bimonthly. We'll accept rifter applications May 1-5, as usual, and then accept the next batch July 1-5. Bimonthly arrivals will hopefully give us a greater ability to make arrivals unique and potentially weave them into plot events.

Minor AC/Reward Changes

First, this is not actually a change, but a reminder: the cut-off for a tag to count for Activity is 11:59pm Eastern on the last day of the month. Tags posted after that time will not be counted toward AC requirements for the prior month. We understand that there have been exceptions made in the past, and that players have been allowed to pass AC even though their only proof contains tags posted after the month has ended. We do generally prefer to be lenient where possible, but this is not the first time that we've had to post this reminder and we will not be doing it again. From now on, the rules will be enforced as written and failing to post fully-qualifying AC proofs will result in a strike.

We also wanted to remind players of canon Dragon Age companions and advisors about the open post requirement: at least once every two months, one of your AC proofs must be an open post or an open top-level on a plot/event post. If this requirement isn't fulfilled, we'll need to see qualifying open posts in both of the next two months or else you'll have to take a strike. If you have questions, please ask us! (Preferably in advance of it becoming an issue.)

On a more fun note, we've made a couple small changes to AC Rewards. First, we've revised the pricing on rift items. From now on, it will no longer cost the same number of points to find rift flip-flops as it does to find a rift sorting hat. Items that aren't weapons, magical, powered, or future-tech (by Thedas standards) will only cost 15 points instead of 50. We also have clarified that the Anchor Abilities (Vanilla Rifter) discount price also applies to native non-mage characters. We'd already been charging the points that way when applicable but had failed to officially state it.

PLOT/IC UPDATES

Projects & IC Leadership Roles

We've mentioned a few times that the setting shift to Kirkwall would bring with it a new system for involving PCs in mod plot and allowing players to steer the game's story in the form of specific projects representing the priorities of this Inquisition outpost. Now that you've all chosen your Divisions, we're excited to announce the Projects we've chosen. There are nine of them, and information about each—and about how Projects will work more generally—is available on the Organization page. It's our hope that the new Projects will make it easier for those interested in being part of mod plot-relevant efforts to get involved in ways that interest them.

In addition to signing up for the primary and secondary projects of your choice, you can also now submit applications for Project Leader and Division Head positions. These are primarily IC positions with an OOC organizational component, and will give chosen characters the chance to try their hand at leadership and see whether they rise to the challenge or crumble under the pressure. More information about how these positions will work and how to sign up for them is available on the new Leadership page.

Part of the reason we moved the game population away from Skyhold was to create an environment where PCs were the ones in charge. There are no Inquisition NPCs in Kirkwall who are more experienced or more competent than our collection of PCs. So please don't hesitate to put your character forward!

Kirkwall Transition

As of May 1, all PCs must have moved into the Inquisition base in Kirkwall, and all new Rifters will be delivered to Kirkwall rather than Skyhold. The Gallows tower complex has been cleared of red lyrium, reinforced with cleansing runes, and declared safe for full-time habitation, so the vast majority of the Inquisition force in Kirkwall will be living and working there. More information about the base, and about the status of the city of Kirkwall as whole, can be found here.

Now that the base is up and running, the usual day-to-day work of the Inquisition begins again. If you're not sure what that entails for your character, take a look at the Division write-ups for a non-exhaustive list.
