DIPLOMACY MISSION: MASTER DEBATERS

WHAT: Tantervale is one of the most influential cities in the Free Marches - and one that's not very fond of Riftwatch, given that Riftwatch's friendliness towards radicalism and apostasy clashes with Tantervale's pious culture.

Riftwatch is sending a select group of representatives to charm the Lady Chancellor Davina Crouch. Specifically, they are to charm her by sending representatives to a summit on religious law to be held in Tantervale.

HOW: The summit is a place where religious scholars come together with city leaders to discuss questions of Andrastian law. Most places would skip this this year given everything that's going on, but, you know, Tantervale. Riftwatch has been politely invited to attend to discuss a topic of their choice.

Riftwatch diplomats will present their stances on a variety of legal/religious questions. The main RP mechanism will be debating where they stand on this list of questions. Their official assignment is to win over the Chancellor, which will likely require moderate-to-conservative responses to these questions, but they might also be tempted to present their true (likely more liberal) views.

There will be an RNG mechanism that will determine the success/failure of their arguments, with more radical arguments requiring a higher roll.

tl;dr: This mission will involve you deciding where your character stands on thorny ethical issues and figuring out how willing they are to compromise on them.

WHO: 3-5 Riftwatch agents, with preference given to members of Diplomacy. Members of Diplomacy and Research will be particularly useful in this plot.

WHEN: Get your sign-ups in by end of day EST, Sunday, October 25th. The log will be posted on Wednesday, October 27th.

How do you overthrow a dictator Corypheus? You cut off his resources.

BACKGROUND:
Corypheus' invading force is a playful mix of Tevinter and Ander soldiers, among other things. Presently bunched up along Orlais' northern border, anything that could decrease the number of troops at his disposal would weaken Corypheus' hold on the region and potentially allow Orlesian forces to gain the upper hand.

But how will Riftwatch do that, you ask? With some gossip and some griffins.
MISSION:
A small group of Riftwatch agents will fly over the Ander camp and drop pamphlets detailing the cold truth about Corypheus' existence as a filthy darkspawn. Riftwatch agents need to get in, drop the pamphlets, and get out without being spotted, or without being blown out of the sky by trebuchets or angry mages, and most importantly, without losing any griffins to the enemy.
WHOMST:
A small group of five, from any division. Diplomacy is instigating this mission, but anyone down to fly a griffin into danger is a-ok to throw their name into the ring.
WHEN:
Signs up will be open until Monday, 8/3. I'll do rolls for success and have the log up by Friday.

Player plots! War table assignments! But just in case you can't get enough of miscellaneous hijinks for your character to get up to, we've developed a JOBS BOARD to give everyone some specific tasks that your character might be assigned by their respective Division Head.

The board has been divided into two sections - simply day to day tasks that are fairly typical of what Riftwatch members might spend much of their time doing -, and more specific one-off assignments. Please note that these jobs are a) first come first serve, and b) if you claim an assignment but don't end up doing anything with it, we ask that you please open them back up for someone else to jump on. (Yes - this means you have to register a wiki account to make a claim. This is all an elaborate scheme to get you to do so.) Also, while we're planning to add in additional assignments as need/interest dictates, please continue to develop and submit your own Officially Division Sanctioned™ player plots to your heart's content.

Sign ups for the June/July assignments for the Diplomacy Division have just been posted. (My goal is to try and do these every two months, but I might tweak that a bit depending what's happening and what works best.)

As there is currently no leadership for Chantry Relations or Other Powers a few of the missions are themed around those projects, but are open to sign ups regardless of the projects people are signed up to, so long as they are in the Diplomacy division. There's a few things to fight in these missions, including me for not coming up with better puns.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

ETA: if people in the Chantry Relations or Other Powers want to sign up to those but aren't in Diplomacy then tbh I'd be totally down with them signing up given the circumstances but just adding a note clarifying

hello Quid Pro Quoers, also known as Clarke, Church, Cosima, and Fenris! it's me, your point person Cee (Bellamy). we have a super fun mystery to solve together and I would like to get some plotting going. I am pretty terrible at plurk so I am suggesting we coordinate here--but if this is terribly inconvenient to anyone we can shift elsewhere.

cutting to save everyone else's reading page bye )
